I love the idea of having a Betta tank setup at the house for my Granddaughters!

Bought a 5 gallon tank and tried watching a few set up videos but this one was by far the best! Simple and direct instructions, thanks dude

I bought my DD this exact tank, thank you for the steps,much needed. Also I wish I seen this video beforehand,I lost 2 fish prior because no one told me about conditioning the tank. Until just recently,I see this is a very important process/step.

Thank you for making this video for beginners. This information is very important for people to know before getting into fish keeping. I only wish we had sought it out when setting up our tank instead of trusting what the associate at PetSmart told us to do. We did everything right...up to step 8. We were never informed of the cycling process but were told to set up the tank, add the Prime and Stability, and then wait 48 hours before adding fish. So now we have dead fish, a heartbroken kid, and everyone feels awful after a lot of stress and effort to correct the situation to no avail.

Thats awesome!! My daughters are 5 and 3, and they love going down into the fishroom to see the fish or turtles. They get involved with cleaning and setup now. It's a great hobby for them to be into! I'm sure your grandkids will love it! Good luck!

I've been wanting to set one up for awhile, I have perfect spot in my room for it. Would love to catch some wild fish and put them in the tank. Hey, I would love this tank for my very first tank, I have always wanted a tank, I would probably use this tank as a fancy guppie tank or some other small fish since there small, easy to take care of (from what I have read) and get along with other species if I planned on getting another small species of fish, I have been doing my research and I think its time for the next step of finally getting fish, I would absolutely love and enjoy this tank, and maybe even getting live plants and gost shrimp I have so many ideas for this tank please keep me as suggestion, and keep the awesome vids going!

Great tank setup 101 vid, Zac. I went on FB Marketplace and got a used 29 gal. for a good price. Just picked it up today, so I don't really need a tank for myself. But, my wife mentioned this afternoon that my youngest daughter expressed interest in fish keeping. If I somehow won (I never win), I would gift her the tank. This is old but still helpful. I've kept fish most of my life, mostly goldfish which are supercute but realy, messy and need space. Now I want a small tank, I have a really similar kit (heater was not included, I bought one) setting up now, trying to decide on small fish. I like the guppies or maybe neons. I would do bettas if we could have more than 1. I know males will kill each other. We have an excellent petshop nearby, I will probably go with whatever they think. Planning on maybe 4 or 5 fish? I dont know. I used a gift bag with an interesting pattern for my background. Now I just have to deal with a 10 yr old who wants fish asap, and will ask every day while it cycles for a month. Haha. In my older tanks the filter was different (the white bags where you added charcoal from a little milk carton) I didn't have the plastic bacteria scrubber then. So the scrubber in with the blue cartridge should probably never be cleaned? My filter looks like the one you are using here.

Heck ya man I’d love to win that aquarium!! I just set up a 55 gallon aquarium that I got from my uncle a couple month ago and I’d love to add to the collection!! For that one I’m keeping some natural fish like bluegill and sunfish that I caught earlier this summer. If I were to win this aquarium, I’d think I’d set it up for a beta, I’ve always wanted one. I’d absolutely love to add to and start my own collection!

I really enjoyed watching your video on setting up the 5.5 gallon Top Fin fish tank. I just recently purchased the same setup so I could have a Betta fish. However, all the videos on cycling my tank made me so frustrated before even getting started ( I’m a beginner at this). But then I came across your video, & took a sigh of relief & became excited again. So thank you for making the cycling process easy for us newbies😁 One question….do you recommend having live plants in the tank while cycling it? Its very economical for little fish i like glow fish and i love fish that was a easy set up i like decorations so my tank would be full of colors .

great video man, thatd be a nice aquarium for a betta but since im sure my niece and nephew would really enjoy it I would much rather take them and let them each pick out a fish that would go together in the tank

75 is a great sized tank! Lot of possibilities with that aquarium! Enjoy it!

I would use the tank for a cool colored Betta fish, one that I could name Jerry.

:-) awesome video! And ideally don’t go with rainbow gravel and spongebob decor. I know you think it’s cool as hell, and it kinda is, but it’s not cool for your fish. They’d be more comfy and happy with natural decor like what they’d be in in their home environment And haha haven’t started a tank from fresh in years, so forgot the very basic for startup. Ty!

Appreciated! She's sent me pictures when she visits her local petco (no mom and pops where she lives) of bettas when picking up food for her cats - old habits die hard. Bettas were her favorite when I was a kid.

I love guppies, and just bred some out, and will put in a beautiful male red guppy that i just bred! Probably have it as my little show tank in my living room!

We put the fish in 45 min after filling they lived 2 days I'm going to wait a month for the tank to cycle and try again

I would certainly love to win the tank. I've never done a tank really dedicated to crustaceans like shrimp or even the dwarf crabs and would love to try that on a small scale. Also as far as this video I loved the black and white screens. Sadly my significant other also insist on using the table to eat on and not letting me use it as a giant aquarium stand lol.

Im pretty close to that actually, just missing the bathrooms. For the longest time he had a betta tank in the kitchen and I think that's where the 5 would go if I got lucky and won it LOL.

I too am in trouble if anymore liquids comes into the house, but for me to get around the loophole the goldfish will need to find home outside. Equipment is just so expensive in Australia, I need a decent size filter compatible for outdoor use with Coldwater goldfish.

Hey, can you make a guide on how to buy a tank from letgo, offerup, Craigslist or some site like that. I bought a tank that was supposed to be 80 gallons and be made of acrylic. We thought we could sand out some deep scratches but it turned out it was tempered glass. After two months of sanding and polishing we finally got it to an OK looking outcome. Then we found out it was only 55 gallons. So can you make a guide so people can avoid what I had to go through? Thanks

That's upsetting that you had to go through that experience! I've found that people online often don't really know what they're selling! I bought 2 55s off someone when I was just getting into the hobby, but they turned out to 30s. I can definitely work on some sort of guide for buying tanks used online, what to look for and what to avoid. Thank you for the suggestion!

I would love to turn that 5.5 gallon into a live planted betta and african dwarf frog tank. I've been wanting to set that up but Ive been putting all my money into the redesign of my 55 gallon

I just got 2 female bettas and I was not aware that they each need their own tank and I can't put them together in the same 5gl tank. I have always had bettas, the longest I've had one was 12 years when my blue male betta Azul died of natural causes.

i want to make a tank for 1 channel cat, 2 rock bass and ab 3 bluegill. I would keep you up to date on how they are doing and such, ive been planning it for a while but i need all my money for my car and dont have money for the tank set up ive been talking ab for years.

That'd be a fantastic group of fish for a tank! Unfortunately this 5.5 gallon would be much too small for those fish! This tank would be much better suited for a betta fish or some guppies or other nano fish.

i thought you said 55 loll but i could raise a blue gill or rock bass as they are VERY plentful in the bayou by me and release them once they outgrow the tank..aka quickly

Great video I would want to win the tank to add to my fish tank collection. I currently have 5 freshwater tanks and a saltwater nano tank. I would set up the tank as a planted tank with a hand full of ember tetras and a couple little Otto catfish to clean the bottom. Or I would use it for a feeder tank for breeding guppies and ghost shrimp for feeders to fed my predatory fish. I have all kinds of fish from small tetras and platies and other community fish to predator fish like oscars,jack dempseys,pacu,Iridescent sharks,arowana,and more I would have many uses for the tank!

Or possibly have it as my grown out tank for guppies...? 🤔🤔🤔

I think a 5.5 gallon is a great start for kids! That's what my daughter got for her first! Tough to say for the bluegills! The two I have left from when I caught them are about 5 inches... they'd do fine in a 55 gallon for awhile! If you have the space I'd recommend that! Otherwise get them smaller and a 29 gallon would be a start!

Either a guppy or a betta. If i win then i have to decide lol! Always loved bettas, but i have guppies already... 🤔

My wife is wanting to get started with an aquarium. Neither of us have ever really maintained an aquarium. It would be a good starter.

A 5.5 gallon is a good size for just starting out! Maintenance is simple enough but more often than with a bigger tank! My first tank was a 29 gallon and it was perfect! It'd be cool for someone just getting into the hobby to win the tank, so good luck!

How long have fish stayed alive in that tank at a time? Because I want to get at 5 gal but people say they die faster in it.

That's not entirely accurate! Typically smaller tanks just require more maintenance to keep the fish alive than larger tanks. The water parameters can be thrown off much more easily in a smaller tank, which can kill your fish. 5 gallon tanks are great. You just need to make sure you do water changes often and keep track of your water parameters!

Referring to a healthy aquarium. Look up cycling an aquarium and that will explain the basic parameters you want in an aquarium.

i would set it up in my daughters room. not really what fish yet. i would let her pick out a fish that is the proper size for the tank and set it up for her as she would like it to be set up.

I would set up a tank for either a Green Sunfish, or a Warmouth startup until they grew bigger when I needed a 55+ tank.

I want to win this tank because I just got a room in my house freed up after my son moved out now I’m making it a man cave and I want to set this up as a neon tetra tank and put enough in so they can school! I will use white rocks and similar to the one you set up a cpl fake plants and do a pirate theme thanks for considering me this will help me distress as I was in the hospital 3 times in 2019 with life threatening issues hoping for a better 2020!!!!

I have that exact set up for myself. A 5.5 gallon tank with black sand, neon colored plants and 3 Pink glowlite Tiger Barbs and a nerite snail. The tank has been going that way for 2 years and has been a lot of fun. If you can handle the maintenace on it I totally recommend doing that for your 3 year old!! :)
