I have always struggled with the tension and as a result haven’t used my serger machine. Thank you for this tutorial. So simple and straight forward. I’m actually looking forward to giving this a try.
I've struggled with this for years. So logical and simple. Thank you for letting me enjoy sewing once again❤❤
A very systematic way to sort out tension on your overlocker😊👍 Great explanation, thank you!
This was the best video thank you. I could not get my machine adjust but now it is perfect. Thank you.
Omg THANK YOU! Any tips of figuring out the differential feed and pressure foot pressure ? I’m serging 4way swim fabric and it’s curling and twirling 😭
One never gets too old to learn new tricks. Thank you for the simple way you showed us to set tension, my wife says at 80 I should know a lot, but then I have a LOT of hobbies. 👴🏼

I put away my sewing in order to raise my precious granddaughter and now she is becoming a really fine adult. Now I get to return to sewing and your logical way of assessing the tension has taken away a lot of stress by a methodical method that also teaches you so much about the machines that we love to create on! Thank you!
I never would’ve thought to do this🤦🏻♀️ thank you so much! This is genius🙌🏽

This is fantastic I have been struggling with the instructions in the manual for a long time. I have a Janome My Lock and it's been pot luck getting the tensions right. I almost gave it away. Thank you so much xxxx🤗
This helped with my mother's new (2nd hand) sewing machine. I honestly just copied the numbers you used at the end and it was perfect!!! Thank you for your video!
That's a really great idea to make the numbered fabrics. Your Janome makes beautiful stitches.
Thank you so much for this video, I am struggling with my Janome 534D tension. Please tell me the 2 differential feed knobs on the side.....on what should it be?
This was so helpful. I’ve had my serger for a long time but never used it much because I never knew how to set the tension correctly. Thank you very much. I know I will use my machine a lot now.

That's great, how are you getting on?
Simple, Yet Absolutely Genius! At 48yo, I’m still a beginner, even though have owned my Serger for about 4 years. One of my first practice sessions ended with a threading nightmare. I couldn’t figure it out, got overwhelmed and felt so intimidated that I gave up, which isn’t like me. Alas, it’s been collecting dust since. Earlier I watched another video on how to thread my Janome 634D which actually led me to your video on Tension. Tension has always been an issue for me, even on my basic Brother sewing machine. I just realized that, until today, I didn’t fully comprehend what I was even looking for. Now, after watching your video many times, as I wanted to pause and zoom-in at each level to make sure I understood. I’m so excited to say, I finally get-it! Thank you for this wonderfully detailed explanation! I feel like I’ve overcame the anxiety that’s held me back. Thank you for helping me find my self-confidence & enthusiasm to try again. I’m actually smiling as I type because I feel so optimistic. I simply cannot thank you enough for this amazing video! You are one brilliant young lady!
Thank you!! You have presented a clear and simple way to diagnose and set thread tension, I appreciate it!

Just found your channel and am very pleased to have such a logical method for tension adjustment. I have a babylock 6000 serger which is close to 30 yrs old. I had to give up sewing clothing for years, but I just retired and look forward to enjoying sewing skills that have brought me so much satisfaction over the prior years. Thanks for a clear and concise tutorial

I pulled my Bernette (made by Juki I later came to know) after not having it used it since the 90's!). It still sews perfectly, but all of my institutional knowledge about operating and muscle memory in threading it (though there is a guide) was out the window.

Thank you so much for posting this!!! I sat here for the last hour trying to adjust the tension after buying my first serger 🤣 now I understand why my teacher always took forever to rethread and adjust the tension. Wow love it. Great job of exhibiting a way to find your proper settings. Thank you ever so much you saved me hours!!!!!
This is a brilliant system, and thanks for demonstrating it. I find the tension the hardest part to get right. I thought it would be the threading, as most people talk about that with dread, I'm fine with threading, but the tension, ooh dear different story! Should be better now :)

@@LaRomi I can relate to that. I bought my first sewing machine (old gold and black Vibrating shuttle Singer) in 1971, but after letting my new husband have a go, it never stitched properly again, so took it back, and part exchanged it in for a Bernina 830, which I'm still using. After many years of sewing, I realised Michael had just altered the tension...
❤❤❤❤❤ What a genius way to actually see the difference as you change the tension dial. I’m like many others-don’t have a clue how to control tension. Think I’ll dust off my old serger, once I find it in the attic! 🥴Now I just need to invite you to my home and teach me how to thread it.😂
Wow!!! Thank you for this great tutorial ❤️
