Hey folks - for those who are wondering why/how this zero stop “Limits available travel” - allow us to further explain. It’s probably a better way to word it by saying it limits you to nearly 2 full revolutions **From your zero**. In the MOA model, having 25 MOA per revolution, that means you get the 47 MOA mentioned here to dial **From zero**. Likewise with the MRAD model, you get the approx 18 Mils of adjustment **From zero**. Don’t confuse this with limiting the overall adjustment - thinking that way would lead one to believe you only get about 23 MOA or 9 Mils on either side of your zero which is NOT the case. With nearly 2 full revolutions from zero, it is certainly possible and quite likely that you may not even realize the end of the zero stop’s available travel before actually bottoming out in the scope’s tube. Here is a link to a new video we released that explains this very thing - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKea0KmxfLvfd7w.html

I have 5 Vortex Razor optics and one Viper, love them all. Really like the synthetic tool for adjusting the settings that come with Vortex scopes. No chance of marring the screws of the turrets like you often see with competitors scopes. Can't beat the price, value, and quality of Vortex optics!

So I install this when I'm zeroed and ready to slip the turrets. With the ring in place it limits the travel to 5 clicks down and almost two revolutions up. Unless you are doing ELR shooting this is exactly the range of adjustment you will need access to, and too much adjustment is just more chances to be a rev off. Seems like a great idea.

I just bought this scope tonight! It's a beautiful scope! Only thing I'm confused about, is what is the point of adding the zero stop ring? It sounds like once I zero the rifle in, and then I install the zero stop ring, it will then cause inaccuracies with my shots as it is no longer zeroed in?? I am not sure I am fully understanding the point of adding that ring in if i can simply remove the turret dial and install it back at the 0 marker. What am I missing here guys?! Thanks!

Hey Jonny - the zero stop ring prevent you from dialing down past your zero. This is extremely beneficial if you are dialing out for long range shooting. Installing the ring will not cause any inaccuracies with your shots.

I’m new to long range shooting. I have a Ruger american Predator 6.5 CM and recently bought a 20 MOA rail and am planning to buy a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 MOA. I guess I’m confused how to zero your rifle with the extra cant of the 20 MOA rail to get the extra elevation in your turret? I plan to run the zero stop in the optic so will that change the results?

Simply dropping the cap on +5 of your zero actually won’t do it - you’ll still end up 5 clicks below your zero when you dial back, the dial will just physically say “0” instead of “-5”. You’ll actually want o physically zero the optic 5 clicks high of your zero and THEN index the turret so it’s on the “+5” position. That way when you dial back and it stops right on “0”, that is actually your proper zero.

  • @VortexOpticsUSA

It's actually not that much - we'll have a video coming out to explain this better soon, but a lot of people think the overall adjustment is limited from 31 MRAD to 18 MRAD or 110 MOA to 47 MOA. That's actually not the case. If you consider the fact that it's likely you'll be zeroed somewhere near the middle of the scope's travel, that would leave you with either 15.5 Mils or 55 MOA left to actually dial for elevation. It's from that point that you're then "Limited" to 18 Mils or 47 MOA. In the MRAD model, since .1 Mil is a more coarse adjustment than 1/4 MOA, you don't even run into the limitations of the zero stop before bottoming the scope out (And mind you - even if you did - 18 Mils is A TON of adjustment). In the MOA model - you would run into the zero stop before the end of the tube assuming you're zeroed dead in the middle of the scope, but again, 47 MOA is still a lot of available adjustment.

@@VortexOpticsUSA question : how does that work when the scope is NOT zeroed in the center - while using canted rails ? if you have 20 MOA base meaning your zero is somewhere 20 MOA lower than the center of the scope will the 47MOA limit apply regardless or will it extend because the original zero is now below the center of the scope adjustment ?
