That means they don't have iMessage set up, or they can't currently receive iMessages (i.e. they do not have internet access)

Hi Naing, If you're trying to send an iMessage to another iPhone user, make sure both you and the recipient have iMessage enabled in your iPhone's settings. If only one of you has iMessage enabled, you won't be able to send/receive iMessages. If you have iMessage enabled and your friend does not, your messages won't be delivered properly.

Hi, just a quick problem I gave my friend my email and he gave me his. He hasn’t added me yet but I have tried to send a message but it won’t let me send it. He has a iOS device so it should work.

It could be because the person you're trying to message isn't able to receive the messages (they don't have service, etc.)

That could mean that the person you're trying to send the message to doesn't have iMessage properly set up.

It's possible that it's because the person you're trying to send to is in another country. However as long as you have their number entered correctly and are connected to your cell carrier's network you should still be able to send your message.

That either means it didn't send properly, or it was sent as a regular text message to someone who does not have iMessage set up

iMessage is for Apple devices only. If you send a message using the Messages app on your iPhone to someone with an Android device, it will be sent as a regular SMS text message, not an iMessage.

The person you're messaging also has to have iMessage enabled on their Apple device. If they don't have an Apple device or don't have iMessage enabled, your messages with them will be sent as SMS

You can send iMessages to people in other countries, just make sure it always sends as an iMessage and not a text message to avoid accidentally being charged for distance texting, etc.

If you have iMessage enabled and you're messaging someone else who has iMessage enabled, it will automatically send as an iMessage. If the person you're messaging does not have an Apple device or does not have iMessage set up, it will be sent as SMS.

Hi Virginia, iMessage is only compatible with Apple devices. If you want to send a message to someone with a Samsung phone (Android device) you can download another messaging app like Messenger, WhatsApp, etc.

You need to set up iMessage in your settings first before you can use it. Go to Settings, then Messages, and make sure iMessage is enabled.

Hi Manul, You can only send iMessages to other people will Apple devices who have iMessage enabled. Make sure that the person you're trying to contact is using an Apple device with iMessage enabled.

The person you're trying to send the message to may not have iMessage set up on their end, or it could be an issue with your internet connection. Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi or have your cellular data turned on, and check that the person you're sending the message to has iMessage set up.

Hi Joseph, iMessages can only be sent from one Apple device to another, so if you're trying to message someone who has an Android or other type of cell phone, the icons and message bubbles will appear green.

Both you and the person you're messaging must have iMessage enabled & properly set up, plus an Internet connection to send/receive iMessages.

Does your friend have iMessage enabled & set up? iMessage also requires an internet connection so if they do not have Wi-Fi/data access your messages will not send as iMessages. Hope that helps!

My partner and I both have iPhones iOS 11 and we both have iMessage on but we still see the green bubble. I don’t know how to fix this problem and I have tried everything. iMessages work with all my contacts except my partner. HELP

Hi Nancy, This issue could be caused by poor Internet connection, or one person not having iMessage enabled properly. If both of you have a strong Internet connection and have iMessage enabled and are still having issues, here are two things we suggest trying: On both devices: 1. Turn iMessage off, wait a few minutes, then turn it back on again. 2. After disabling then re-enabling iMessage, power the device off, wait a minute, then turn it back on. This should solve your problem. If it doesn't you may need to get in touch with Apple for further assistance.

Hi Ed, You don't have to add fun extras to your messages if you don't want to. Simply type in what you'd like your message to say, and send it off! If you're wanting to send an SMS message instead of using iMessage, disable iMessage in your device's settings.
