How to see values... Narrated Tutorial: Values explained and illustrated.

In this narrated video I discuss and illustrate why it is important for the Artist to simplify 1 Million colour tones into a 9 value, 7 Value or 5 Value system.
My passion is to help you to create realistic and soulful artwork. If you found this video useful please give it a like. Be sure to comment and say hello and let me know what kind of videos you'd like to see.

Thank you for your understandable explanation as usual. Love the way you make it comprehensible. I have trouble recognising colours too, so if you can find a way to explain how to see the subtle colours in items, that would be great.

Hi Dave - I am really loving watching your work! I notice you rarely use a blending stump or a tissue - do you ever "blend" and if so do you just use your finger? Do you have a reason why?

Hi Marion - thrilled that you are loving watching my videos. I tend to not blend with any tools reason being... I like how moving the pencil like cross hatching but in different directions creates a speckled affect that seems to add more life to the subject. However I have seen some amazing work where artists have used stumps and fingers. Still I seem to prefer the sketchy approach. Take care.
