Thanks Todd! My 22” is arriving April 5th! Yes after not pulling the trigger on purchasing one for a year the wife said do it lol!!!! I’ve always used lodge cast iron fry pans and have purchased several over the years at yard sales and re - seasoned them ! But now Iam so looking forward to my BLACKSTONE griddle! I’ll use basic cooking oil and use your method but maybe just a few more times to season it! You’re little trick of turning it was brilliant! Thanks for the video and yes I subscribed to you’re channel ! Cheers mate ! Keep those videos coming , stay safe! 👍🇨🇦

Just received the 28" for Christmas. I love it!! Seasoned mine 3 times with lard then cooked bacon first. After that it was ribeyes and onions!! Oh man!! Delicious!! After every cook I put water on the hot grill scrape residue and wipe clean with a paper towel then put a small amount of lard back on the warm griddle. After it cools I cover with a sheet of freezer paper shiny side down. Works so far!!

That seasoning sauce is great. Makes my hands nice and soft too :) When I got the 17 and 21" griddles I gave them both 3 coats and then cooked bacon smash burgers. Use nice fatty beef 70/30 and fatty bacon and that will set that seasoning REALLY good. Nothing like a good burned in bacon grease coating. I found the blue shop towels work best for cleaning and oiling, leaves no "lint" behind.

Great how to video!! You explained everything very well!! 👍💛 I'll have to check out the new conditioner, maybe give it a coat with that as a winterizer ❄ I thought it was very easy to season the griddle, easier than doing a cast iron pan 🙂 I used grape seed oil to first season mine. That was exactly what I cooked on my griddle the first time, hashbrowns, sausage & eggs🍳. The next thing I cooked was 🥓 bacon. 😊🙂

I live in PA and I'm sure you know about the cold weather and the months we go with no griddling/barbecues. Hey Todd, just got my 36” air fryer combo & am assembling it. I’ve been wanting it for a long time & can’t wait to fire it up. I was wondering & maybe it’s going a little overboard, but would it be advantageous to season the underside of the griddle? Season the top & sides then flip it over & season the bottom. Since part of the reason for seasoning is to keep rust away & the underside can rust just as easily as the top, I figure, why not…

Todd, I recently purchased a 36 inch blackstone girddle and looked at about 6-8 different videos on how to season the griddle including yours....... I have sent comments to a number of you "youtuber" video producers with no responses from any of you???? So I will add some additional comments to see if any of you respond??? I seasoned my grill based on the composite of all the videos I watched and got what I think was an almost 100 % seasoning....... thank you for that!!! There a couple of comments I want to make. Keeping the temp at high makes it difficult to get the oil evenly spead out and by the time you are on your 4th layer, your towel can burn. Only one of you mentioned reducing the heat between layers of oil. Also NO ONE MENTIONED that if you store your tools in a plastic bin under the griddle that the bid would melt......! Fortunately have a neighbor with a blackstone who warned me about this....... I am going to begin my grilling career with bacon and eggs tomorrow morning....... wish me welll.......

Do you ever get the sticky not all the way bonded surface? It's of course the surface areas that your utensils leave a mark. I used the stone tool to strip down the non bonded layers on the griddle and underneath was the black glossy finish that isn't sticky. But I can see the weld marks. What do I need to do?

Here's a question, after you are doing cooking and you clean it up and add more oil, do you put it on high and let the oil burn off for an additional season after each cook session?

I always do that to mine. Then when that burns off and cools some I will oil it again with a cloth and then put the cover over it and store it that way I know for sure it will not rust and its good to go and extra layer of protection on it everytime.

I noticed after seasoning a few time, the middle part of the cast iron was lifted up a little I guess from the high heat so when i put the eggs down, they were going to the side. Also my mistake not to lower to heat when cooking eggs. They immediately stuck to the cast iron.

Do you recommend sanding the surface dowl a little to make it more smoother like i have seen people do with the lodge cast iron pan?

Is it okay to use "used cooking oil", that has only been used once and is clean, to season griddle?? Haven't gotten my 28" griddle yet, but should receive it, by Friday, just before Superbowl 2021!! Melaney from SoCal

Could I just bake this in my oven? (If it fits, I have a smaller model) What temp would you recommend? 👍🏽

Don't do it in your oven. You will fill your house with smoke.
