How to Sculpt a Polymer Clay Snail

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Miniezshops artist Elizabeth shows you how to create a snail out of polymer clay
Here's what you'll need:
- Clay
- A work mat (or piece of paper)
- An x-acto knife (or butter knife)
- A potters needle (or a toothpick). Here’s a link to the one I’ve used for over 5 years:
amzn.to/3Y5GoMT
- Silicone dowel tool with ball ends (or a pen works)
Here’s the link to the light blue silicone dowel tools (less than $10):
amzn.to/3YqmAUi
Here’s a link to the black silicone dowel tools (about $15):
amzn.to/3wThO5J
I might earn a commission from purchases made from these links but I’ve been using the blue tools regularly for 3 years and the black tools for over 5 years so they’re great.
Baking Instructions: for the brands Cosclay & Sculpey clay bake at 275F (135C) for 15 to 30minutes depending on the sculptures thickness.

Thanks! Ooh I like that idea. It’ll take me a while to make a video but I’ll try & type here the concepts I think that could be used to start it you didn’t want to wait: I’d probably start with the body by making a tinfoil snake & covering it with a layer of clay. For their legs if you wanted them to be standing you could use wire or toothpicks for support and wrap those in clay. For the head I’d make a tear drop shape (but not an elongated tear drop) where the rounded end is the top of their head. Attach that to the body. The ears would be similar to the ears in my teddy bear video and the eye placement seems to be about 2/3 down the tear drop shaped head. Hope that helps get you started until I can make a video! 🤗
