You're basically tricking your body into doing the action, so then you can identify within your body, what to tighten, what to relax, so you can do it on command later. for some people, one trick will work perfectly. for other people, that trick doesn't work because they have a different relationship with their vocal tract. Stoked that you got it so quick! My false cords are a little harder to get moving. its not so easy for me to relax them and get them moving haha

Another thing I'd like to add: personally when tracking vocals for my stuff (Hardcore yelling) I like to get a warm, not hot, cup of water with throat coat with lemon, add agave and natural honey to it and sip on it in between takes. It helps with coating your throat if you begin to feel some wear and tear from it but also will help your recovery.

He mentioned He mentioned Melissa Cross’s warmups, which I use to warmup for clean volcal as well as fry scream with satisfaction, (although I add a good 10+ minutes “fry warmup” after Melissa”s warmup to practice fry scream.) Melissa Cross’s warmup are fully explained in her first documentary about screaming, entitled “The zen of screaming.” It consists of a series of fourteen short melodic “exercises.” Each exercise repeats a short melody multiple times to cover your vocal range. The first two take the sound of “zzz.” Then is the “buzzer.” Then, with the sound of “eee,” you sing the notes 1-2-3-2-1 on one breath. Next exercise is the same, but you add notes 8 (octave)-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 after 1-2-3-2-1. Then comes “mee-gee-hee-hee-he-he-he,” all on one note, and repeat with higher and higher pitch... If you really can’t find the movie “The zen of screaming,” provide me with means of contacting you, and I’ll try to help you out.

False Chord Highs/Lows, and Fry Mids is seriously like the best all around screaming styles for each range imo. ive been doing false chord for 10 years, so i have it down, for the most part. but frying, is still so foreign to me. i can do it, but i like the Yell/Fry style, and that shit feels so weird to even try

God it's addictive practicing the technique once you get somewhere, I'm really trying to balance not destroying my vocal chords but I keep trying it becasue the sensation is so new/interesting..I think the key is to remember the diaphragm and not tense your shoulders/neck etc when doing it.

Warm tea and honey. You have to prep your voice for this, most metal vocalists take hours to prepare for their shows and practice. Don't drink milk or soda as it can ruin your voice.
