I am looking into going to the scrapyard for the first time, so I thought I'd get some insight, and this just happens to be the scrapyard near my house.
I wish I had such a well organized scrapyard in my area.

Ha yea right, my area I think the scrapyards (known only as junkyards) are just that. A yard someone started putting junk on so everyone else did as well and the guy built a fence to protect his treasures. In fact I really do not know anyone that goes to any of these places to buy parts.

After months of sitting there, usually only the shell is left or any parts that are too far gone. At my yard I go to, they have a 68 Camaro, 76 coupe De Ville, 68 Volvo P1800, 67 Impala, and 65 Mustang Coupe. They've been there for months. When they meet the crusher, they are completely stripped. Nothing goes to waste
Sometimes the eye balling is the best part. I collect vintage car emblems and found trim for an 81 AMC Eagle! I'd never seen one in person but stumbled across it while looking for parts for my Ford
by far the best junk yard i've seen... some of the ones i've been to compared to this one can be considered outright dangerous.
I always loved wandering around, sucks my 99 Explorer is almost fixed good as new, need three cosmetic pieces and I'm all good.
my thoughts exactly; junk yards where I live are a lot different. Cars ly in the yard for years until every good part is stripped from it and basically just the uni-body is left.
But what if i need a gas tank? All these get punctured. ):

Maybe your dealer has the specific fuel tank that you need.

Craigslist is next best option IMO. If you have Facebook, I’ve found that the new “marketplace” is decent. Similar to craigslist except there’s the sellers profile that you can view. Few downsides to the marketplace (I dislike the way you set the search distance) but prices are decent and there’s more novice sellers versus CL so prices are sometimes lower. Then there’s always eBay!
The sad truth is crushing and recycling really cuts down on the amount of cars our sons and a few daughters are going to have for restorations. Not to mention a lot of what gets crushed really isn't at the end of its life. A lot of those vehicles are there just because someone didn't know how to or care to work on them.
Some yards strip the engines out. Literally tear them out. They will use claws to rip off the alternator and starter. Higher value because of the copper, classed as "electric motor" scrap.
That answer does make sense indeed. I like it :) Keep up the good work.
No one's sun beaten or missing teeth. +1 to these guys
I like going to this kind of yards, taking a peek under the hood of other cars and examine them. One way of learning a how and what to do when you encounter car troubles down the road.
Pulled power steering parts, and a grill for my 1989 Buick Riviera at Parts Galore back in 2008.
I wonder if you can fix the crushed car with duct tape?? haha, love the videos
The best junkyard i have ever seen!!
Junkyards....where Intrepids belong lol. I love going to the junkyard,so interesting to look at all different cars (especially the Intrepids). I like those junkyards that let you have little things for free, like a shift knob,or key
I love this video.... Im a wife and I love junkyards.
this was neat but would of been nice to see cars there like the old stuff section
Interesting. Great segment!
Plus there were still decent taillights on that Intrepid.
dude needs to go to hollywood. sam jackson can't do all the work.
Great video idea!
That’s a lovely lot! Just great.
Old stuff !?! Awesome! I want an old stuff section.
5:09 I almost cried when they said they crush the cars 😭😭
I could watch this all day....crushing carss
I really like the Dodge Intrepid, so the crushing part kind of hurt to watch.
there should be this kind of salvage yard across the country!
Very professional yard! I wish there were some like that around here.

Thats in Detroit Michigan
talk about a nice junkyard. wish we had them around here!!!!
Who is there right mind would antifreeze from this place? I used to run a distillation unit that recycled antifreeze, and it seems like they would sell to that type of company that would probably come and pick it up from them.
ah the memories, sweet stuff
IT'S ACTUALLY SATURDAY!!!!!
For the people who where shock by the Gad tanks, it’s the quickest way to remove the gas because they don’t have a screw like the oil pan
Hopefully all the Dodge Rams get saved!!!❤ Love Wooly!!!
The gas can go bad and corrode the inside of the fuel tank, making it more useless. If you really needed a new fuel tank, then plug up the hole. A hell of a lot better than dealing with a rust layer.
are there any junk yards like this in or near dallas
that's a very clean yard
Would there be golf carts at a place like this?
@hairystyles4212
5 жыл бұрын
Yes. There are golf carts you can jump on to get to the front entrance. I live three miles from this place.
I’m on here trying to figure out if any parts yard actually evacs Freon properly or do they all just cut the lines and let it float away. Lol
Can you but a full car or just parts from a salvage yard? Because it would be cool to buy a full car and restore it.
Cool, I figured it would but it would have to be a full restore or a one off original.
My brother and i got in trouble for assembling a car in the yard. With a battery, and fluids. I bet it would have started right up.
I paid $13 for a sun visor and thought that was high, went on line and used visors go for $50-100. So guess prices are cheap.
Yeah! I have one! If you find a Escort Engine from a 90-94 DOHC, can you send it my way? Need it for a engine swap into a Festiva. OH! And a MTX75 transmission from a Focus MK1 :) Thanks!!!!
So they drill a hole on the fuel tank to take out the fuel? What if someone needs a fuel tank?
This is a car enthusiast's shopping mall!
How much would you expect to pay for tie rods on a 2007 nissian murano at the auto recycling
my god this yard is clean, and they actually take out the fluids.. in los angeles, CA its anything goes.. in a real junkyard
Video on how to removed a shifter cable end on automatic transmission ,on ford explorer 2005
I guess the $1 fee just to build and wander around the day looking at interesting things might be worth it
Pretty nice yard I believe that one dollar charge is for insurance and legal reasons
that is heaven for me
HA HA I was about to post the same thing!
So that´s what Samuel L.Jackson been doin´in his offtime , managing a junkyard !
What kind of junk yard is this you get your bags checked in my area people would be pretty pissed off about that
I habe a love-hate relationship with the junkyards here.they have lots of old cars 60s,70s cars but wont SELL any of them.you can buy any part but not the bodies
So this is a auto recycle yard than. See this is nothing like the Junkyard I work at.
It's kind of sad to see these cars. They all have stories to be told, it's kind of like an actual graveyard if you think about it.
@ben @car and driver where is this place?!
sweet
The black man sounds like Samuel l Jackson

Came here for this comment. Dead on for SLJ.
We’re are you in the junkyard
The chains we have in the KC area are most often a waste of time. They don't put out anything close to a late model. They strip those out of site. Most material is of the mid 90s and down. They do not ever mark a car for knowledge as to if the engine ran or not. Parts are left lying all over. Can't get through with the rolling cart most the time. Prices are great, but a waste of time to walk around for 2 hours and find nothing. Price means nothing then.
i don't think you can because the car has been scheduled for crushing and it's tags have been cleared from the system.
I love junkyards and I am going to own a junkyard when I grow up.
This was a poor choice of wrecking yard, because 99% of them aren't nearly as nice----it would've been better to show what the average yard looks like. In many yards, they don't drain anything, including the gas tanks---they can sell those by not drilling holes in them.
@carnage50x

the few that's near me is set up exactly like this one. but they don't drill a hole in the fuel tank lol.
yes. Crush as many intrepids as you can.
Did they have kia's there
Why are there no torches allowed?,
Its a very clean organized salvage yard with near perfect assembled complete vehicles which is hard too believe. Junkyards I've been to in Colorado and Texas all vehicles there are rat fucked to pieces and auto parts scattered all over the yards and there are crowds of illegals going through them vehicles.

what was red collector car that they got to crush?
@canadiancatgreen

+BehindShakyImage ok thanks for the id on the collector car what was the grey collector car that was crushed?
When they said "composite " when the car was in the crusher it started to hurt :(
umm wheres the scavengin? usually when i go i am under a car for an hour swearing
Was moy so easy ehen the Hydros fail
oh and what kind of car do you own
Why weren't the tires/wheels removed prior to crushing? Seems like a waste to me, as I'm sure someone would buy them.
you prob think the cash for clunkers idea was good to i am assuming
My junkyard story...purchased a wrecked Porsche 944, 2 years later its all fixed it up, wrecked it, the end
thats the problem at pick n pulls junkyards and stuff. people cut off components surrounding the one piece they need and ruin all the other parts for anyone else that needs one its fucking annoying
I know your feel, bro.

This one is in Flat Rock on Telegraph rd.
That is nice as auto wrecking yard I've ever seen but I have $2 seems a little silly
Its takes ruffly 80 thousand pounds, to crush a car, the weight of a fully loaded semi, that's what it was a few years ago, it mite be more or lees now.
6:31 if my dad ever do this to my 1998 Renalt twingo i promise paying whitout end
When someone needs a gas tank...but they poked a whole in the damn thing...
idk why but i hate it when cars get crushed
My dad runs a salvage yard.
why dont you guys take parts for the junk yard to make a car or truck using only recycled parts
Pull-A-Part Birmingham, AL ;b

Right. Best part is getting stopped at the rail road tracks waiting on a train to pass. lol
Are you sure that's not Samuel Jackson
funny they say they are recycling yet they left the tires on the crusher car
perfume on a pig a junkyard is a junkyard.
So I guess if you need a new gas tank don't go to a salvage yard because I guess they drill a hole in the bottom!
I hated the part when the intrepid got crushed because my dad has one
Is it me or does this guy kinda sound like Samuel Jackson
I disagree. People use to say the same thing about Pintos, Vegas, Mustang 2s, school buses, old semis, etc. For everything out there, there is someone if not 1000s of people looking for the same thing. You can't buy a descent VW Window Van for less then 10k now. Old COE ford vans and trucks. AMC is a FAST growing collector car. I don't just mean AMX and Javelins either. Ambassadors, Hornets and Rebels. I hope you get the point and I am thinking yall are not true car guys to even think that way.
Oh just walking around with my wife lol. Bs
I spent lot of time pulling parts as a boy pa pa made me I liked it me and pa pa was partners he was firm bout having stuff in order I was always with him amoose is what he called me did pa pa die I'm in heaven at junkyards when I wasn't there I was right next to pa pa u got my pictures of me and him
