How to Save Money Stop Buying These Things 2022

#minimalist #savingmoney #saveyourmoney
Saving money and making healthier choices are the catalysts for my decisions, and this video. I know the chicken nuggets may be a bit much, but the fact that they put growth hormones in EVERYTHING these days has me very cautious about anything that’s not organic. Children are so much bigger, and physically mature so much sooner than my generation did. Anyways (that’s my little rant for the day) if you’re reading this I Pray you have a blessed and magnificent day.

In addition to vinegar, I also add baking soda to my wash. I put it directly on my clothes before the wash cycle starts. The combination of the vinegar and baking soda, makes clothes soft and they don't have an perfume like smell like you said that probably isn't good for you to begin with. Thanks for all you do...I love your content. I am a subscriber and look for you faithfully every Thursday and Sunday.

@Benita Raney, may I add don't sleep on a drop of Dawn dish detergent for stains on your clothes . Use only a little bit because it will become too soapy in your machine . Drop it directly on the stain , the sooner you do it before the stain sets the better. Rub it in and throw in the wash.

I became a new subscriber after watching this video. I like if when I see influencers are influencing others in the right direction. Times are difficult for alot of us and that's the real truth. Personally I live in Jamaica and am constantly trying to cut cost every day due to inflation/high cost of living. I love your tips which I have been doing for the most part and I will also add cutting out the use of plug in fresheners and use oil defusers instead also only eat out in extreme situations and eat home cook meals instead. With the rising cost of gasoline I plan my traveling and walk when possible. You are such a beautiful queen ❤❤

Angela, I love these tips and have adapted several to my life as well. Vinegar as fabric softener is the best thing ever! I keep a little jar with cut in half sponges from the dollar store soaked in vinegar. I toss the sponges in with my clothes in the dryer. The vinegar lifts out all smells and makes the clothes more soft. Fabric softener leaves a waxy build up on clothes that I now find gross. I also bought a french press to make my coffee at home. I can brew my coffee and froth my coffee in the press (not at the same time of course)! Another trick for the bath & body works hand soaps is to buy one foam and a couple regular, clear soaps... when the foam one runs out, use the regular hand soap the same as you do with the Dial. That way you can have the "fun scent" and that $4 bottle will stretch out for quite a while. Anything I use on a daily basis has to be high quality. I don't have time for towels, bras, shoes, bags, hair products to fail or malfunction on me. Great video! Love this topic!

First time viewer here Angela. I stopped buying paper napkins MANY years ago. Just use the extra ones I get from my take-out orders instead. Also haven't had to buy cutlery for hostessing...use the ones from take-out as well. I have used Downy in my laundry since I was born, so that will be too hard to relinquish. Maybe will mix the vinegar with the Downy and see how that works. Fully agree about Coach & Dooney & Bourke quality. I only buy them at the outlet stores. I NEVER was a fan of uncomfortable shoes, and that has not changed in 50+ years. Don't drink coffee or tea and was NEVER a fan of Starbucks due to their price gouging.

Yes! 🎯 I also stopped buying my matcha lattes at Starbucks, paper towels, fabric softener (or perfumed detergent) and aluminum/anti-perspirant deodorant years ago, since learning the cancer-causing chemicals that go straight into the underarm (w/ lots of lymph nodes & doesn’t allow you to sweat -meant for detoxing naturally). I also stopped buying individual plastic water bottles and a lot of plastic in general like plastic Tupperware. First, it’s a waste of money & second too much plastic (especially heated up) leeches into your food/water & has been known to be an endocrine disrupter & messes w/ your hormones. I just use a glass water bottle or my Hydroflask now. Oh, and I also use a spray bottle filled with vinegar & lemon/lime peels but for cleaning the counters, mirrors, dusting, fabric freshener. I’ll have to try it in the laundry next!

Thanks for doing this, Angela. My understanding is that antiperspirants contain aluminum, not plain deodorant. There's a difference. Antiperspirants block the sweat glands to keep the underarms dry, while deodorants are designed to keep odor at bay. The majority of store products are sold in a combination of antiperspirant/deodorant, but there are also plenty of options to purchase plain deodorant. I've also heard the rumors that aluminum may cause Alzheimers and breast cancer, but I'm not aware of clinical statistics to support this. I do know that some women who've experienced breast cancer are cautioned by their physicians to steer clear of aluminum.

Thank you for the tip on using vinegar in the laundry. I came to the same realization about BBW soaps and will be doing the same when I use my stash. If I still had a cycle I’d probably no longer buy tampons and use a Diva cup. You can do a whole video on making homemade deodorant. Appreciate the reminder of being mindful of putting so many toxins on our skin which is our largest organ. Great video! ❤️

Thank you for the suggestions. We are on the same page with purchasing "store bought products." During the summer i purchase all of my vegetables from local farmers. The grocery store, which is family ownef, i shop at has 75% local, made or produced in the state, cheese, salad dressings, beef, pork, vegetables and of course chicken. However, I was born and raised in CA, so I absolutely will not eat Florida Avacados, strickly CA Haas Avacados.

I live minimally so here are a couple of things I do. I NO LONGER BUY “dupes” of makeup products. I have used up ALL of my drug store “dupes” (which I found to be a total waste of money for me) and have gone back to my department store makeup/cosmetic brands that I love. I prefer having a smaller collection that I love. I made a list of the lip & eye shadow colors and brands I prefer and carefully researched what I wanted. Mid range to higher range but still a small collection. I only repurchase and item when I use it up. I also stopped purchasing fancy soap dispensers for my bathroom. I found that the pumps always broke. I replaced them with clear glass dispensers from TJ Maxx. Very similar to the one you held up but the bottle is glass and the pump is thinner looking and removable. I used Goo Gone to remove the label and ordered a replacement sticker from Etsy to put on the front and I refill it with Soft Soap from Costco. I did the same thing for my kitchen dish soap & liquid soap. I just bought new towels today from Costco. I add vinegar to freshen them up and the old ones have lasted me 3 years. The wash cloths need replacing sooner but the bath towels just get slightly faded in color, but they still have some fluff. I’m just tired of the color now. So my tried and true thing I currently live by with my wardrobe is … if I can replace it with a better version that will last longer, even if it costs more I do. I just save the money for it. Oh, and I NEVER use credit cards. Cash is KING. 👑💕 I use Native deodorant 💕

First, you look beautiful in that green. You tickled me talking about the deodorant and it is so relatable. I no longer use deodorant regularly. As I have gotten older, the underarm area has become very challenging (yep, let's call it that). Hormone changes, maybe? If you are familiar with hibicleanse, I have applied that to my underarms before showering and it does help to tame the smell. Just not sure if it is something that can be used long term. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Angela, just ran across your channel today and subscribed. I am 60 years old and live in the midwest. I am disabled from a stroke at the age of 52 so 8 years ago. I live on SS disability and I'm trying to avoid getting into my rollover retirement accounts until I absolutely have to. Having lost nearly 15 years of working time, I need to let the money I do have grow until I hopefully need it in my ripe old age! I also will not buy uncomfortable shoes any longer. Since my stroke, I have some swelling in my left affected side so I am limited on the shoes I can wear. Most of the time it's tennis shoes or in the summer I have to find sandals that have adjustable velcro straps on them. Fortunately I found some by Easy Spirit that are a little bit dressier than just casual hiking type sandals that are adjustable so I can wear those with casual dresses. I will definitely no longer be wearing any heels but that's okay; I don't really go anywhere fancy. I love your suggestion about the vinegar in place of fabric softener. I have recently been reading how some washing machine repair techs have been stating that fabric softener and excessive detergent use are two of the biggest problems they see with repairing washers these days. I have found a natural washing soda called Nellie's that only takes a tablespoon of the powder to clean a full load of laundry. I've been using it for several years and I really like it. It also works in HE washing machines. I don't buy dryer sheets ordinarily. Instead I bought a set of the wool dryer balls. It does make it a bit noisy in the dryer but I don't have any static cling issues and if you want a nice scent, you can use essential oils on them. I believe since you like the Starbucks lighter coffee like I do, you might want to check out Costco or Sam's Club as they may sell the bigger bags of it at a very good price compared to purchasing it in a grocery store or from Starbucks themselves. I have seen Starbucks coffee in both of those Warehouse clubs but since it's not my preferred brand I couldn't tell you specifically what varieties they carry so you might want to check out their websites. You're so smart to make your own special coffee drinks at home. You can control the amount of sugar and fat in them by using less cream. I stick strictly to half and half but that is just my personal preference. I've recently decided I need to give up K-Cups. They're just getting too expensive even when I buy them at a good price at Sam's Club for my favorite one which is the Green Mountain Caramel Vanilla Cream. I can purchase that as ground coffee from either keurig.com or amazon.com and have purchased a small coffee maker that will only make a couple of mugs per pot. That's really all the coffee I drink in a day. Since afib was supposedly the cause of my stroke, I should minimize how much caffeine I drink so a cup or two a day is all I need and my doctor is fine with that intake of coffee and caffeine. I also have found that I really like nice leather purses. I purchased them online at outlet stores. The official Dooney outlet is I lovedooney.com and I also shop at coachoutlet.com. I know there are many Coach outlet stores in outlet malls across the country but for me it is difficult to get out even though we have a large lovely outlet nall near me. I find many of them for under $150 or less and they're beautiful and high quality just as you would find them in a large department store as they are the original real thing. Is there anything better than a nice, thick pebble leather Dooney bag? I think not! Thanks for your great channel. I am also looking for continuing to find reusable swaps for disposable ones. Like you, I recently purchased some affordable cloth napkins. I bought mine in black so that they would hide anything and since I generally always wash darker colored towels and clothes, it is easy to throw them in with that load of laundry. I also have minimized paper towels even for cleaning as I've bought microfiber cloths about the size of a large washcloth. I found a variety pack that was in three colors and I have one color for the kitchen, one color for the bathroom and one color for other cleaning like dusting furniture. I do keep paper towels for cleaning up some of the kinds of messes that you want to be able to just throw something away but otherwise I'm really trying to go with sustainable and less disposable items. One other tip regarding laundry.,.....do you want to know what the best stain remover I found is? Dawn Power Wash! Now I wouldn't put it on any fancy fabric but as a happy accident I had gotten coffee as well as a couple of other things on a t-shirt and figured what the heck it was worth trying it as I was going to end up throwing the t-shirt away anyway. Low and behold l, it got all the stains out! Now I no longer need to buy laundry pretreater products. Shout and Fantastic never really worked well for me anyway. As a bonus, your laundry smells fabulous! Thanks for your great tips! So glad I found your channel! Have a wonderful day. ♥️☮️🙏

In addition to the chemicals and fabric softener and laundry detergent, they really mess up your washing machine. I've seen many laundry repair people post about how they find just such a huge buildup of the fabric softener and excessive amounts of laundry detergent because people use way too much detergent when they wash their clothes. They are the ones who also recommend using vinegar in place of fabric softener.

@@chericarter735 ooh, I like that idea for the dryer! I just add it to the washing machine in the fabric softener dispenser (or even a quarter cup directly in with the clothes). For food odors, a few mugs/cups with plain white vinegar placed around the home overnight make a huuuuge difference! I also add about 5 parts water and 1 part vinegar to a pot, simmer on the stove for about 30 mins, then take the pot around the home and allow the steam to get in all the smelly areas. Your house will smell like vinegar for about 15 mins afterwards but the food smells will go away quickly. If you use the stove top method, be sure to use a pot you don't want anymore. I have a single pot for that purpose only.

We use solid dish liquid bars instead of ripoff dish liquid ... a bar can last months. We use "kitchen washcloths" as napkins after realizing paper towels should be illegal. We no longer use garbage bags. We just put trash in can then when full dump in rolling can. We scrub cans with dollartree broom n rinse when needed. It felt weird at first but we r just a bit more careful how we throw things away.

Good ideas here, Angela. Saving money on things we feel are a waste means we can spend it on something we really value, even if it is a relative luxury. We are very environmentally conscious in our house, so we try to avoid disposable and non-recyclable containers. We have an elliptical and a rowing machine, both professional grade, so no gyms here. We like Peets coffee and make it at home -- saves a lot right there. Another purse that will last a lifetime is Radley London (btw, I have a Fendi with a strap that broke!). I use my Radley Londons more than any other (and I agree about Dooney & Bourke). Anyway, this is a nice thing to do and you could add to it periodically.

Vinegar also keeps towels from getting that imbedded nasty smell in them. You can use fabric softener and towels smell great when out of the dryer but if they sit on the shelf or after being used once there’s a nasty smell to them. Have you tried lemon essential oil rather then just lemon juice? The oil makes the fragrance last longer which is why perfume lasts longer than a toilette. That’s a serious collection of shoes. I don’t think I know anyone with that big of a collection. You are right about the hand soap. It’s mostly water with very little soap. I stick to a nylon purse for evey day use. They clean up easy. If I need a pretty purse I check Macy’s sale rack. I wish my daughter in law would stop using paper towels for napkins. Thank you for the other tips. I agree with the shoes. I struggled for years trying to get comfortable nursing shoes and spent more yesrs and money then I can count on shoes that killed my feet. I finally broke down, spent the money on a good pair of surgery clogs, full support panty hose and I was ready to roll.

I'm with you on the cloth napkins! As for softening the laundry, i just discovered the wool balls-- made to toss in the dryer. They really work! As for the gym, i made a few attempts to commit to the gym membership thing over the decades, dating all the way back to spa lady in the dc area in the 80s (yes i'm a bit older than you). It just never really took. Most recently, i joined a local Y (mainly because of the pool classes) but i didn't like seeing other women in the buff and the locker room was waaay too small to avoid it. And, yes, half the time i didn't go. So, i'm done with them-- gym memberships i mean. I try to walk now as much as possible now.

I picked up some fun & whimsical cloth napkins while in San Luis Obispo from Picking Daisies. My son & daughter in law had some they received as a wedding gift and i thought they were really cute. I haven't used paper napkins at home since. Last fall I was at a crafters market and bought a roll of paper towel replacements. I haven't used paper towels regularly since. I set them up on an empty paper towel roll on the dispenser and wash them regularly. I've also swapped most cleaning rags and toxic cleaners for Norwex cloths which don't require cleaners. I found laundry products that are sheets of soap. I'm going to try a shampoo bar to see how I like it. I'm doing my part in reducing chemicals and waste, as well as $$ savings. I also switched to reusable storage & freezer bags for breads, veggies, small servings and glass containers for lunches. My husband switched from buying coffee on the road to taking his own. Huge savings. Shoes that Don't fit right? No. I sat today considering a new purse because the price was good but I have purses in similar styles and colors so I decided to pass. I too would rather put the money into my grandkids' education accounts. Tfs your no buy list.

My first time here and you are speaking to my heart! We bought about a dozen of the 88cent water bottles from Walmart and stopped buying bottled water. Money saved and landfills emptied. Our next effort was to put a basket in the counter where we make toast and sandwiches. The basket used to hold paper plates, now it holds a dozen recycled and bamboo material plates. Again, money saved and the planet values. For larger quick foods the plastic plates from the dollar tree work instead of large paper plates. We have always used vinegar to deodorize pet accidents. A good soak with a cup if vinegar on jeans or sneakers that a pet peed on and the odor is gone. No amount of fabric softener would save those. My boyfriend cannot smell, at all. So my BBW soaps are my own pleasure. They last a long time and I buy only on sale. So I'm happy with that.

I am so sensitive to fragrance that I can’t even go down the laundry aisle without feeling sick. Bottom line is all those products are just a bunch of chemicals that “ off gas” in your laundry room so you inhale them every day. Kudos to your audience for so many great comments & suggestions.

New subscriber here!....Love your channel sis👏🏾❤. You're so right about paper towels, starbucks coffee and hand soaps!...Total waste of money. Not ready to give up my gym membership though...lol (I only pay $23 so I guess I'll keep it for now)

For under arms….I also periodically (2-3x a month) make a paste with bentonite clay and Acv. I sly it under my arms for 5-10 min right before I get in shower. Definitely keeps away odor.
