    I've started to buy produce at ethnic markets,there's a European influenced grocery by me where I can find honeycrisp apples for .49 a pound on a pretty regular basis and an Indian market I can find three pounds of onions for .39 .

    Local grocery has pasta sauce 2 for $3, pork chops $1.99 a lb., chicken legs .99c a lb. That's where will get the meat this week and we usually do. Aldi sale comes out Wed. Whatever is there that is marked down or something, that's what we get. So much cheaper than paying full price. You are so right!

    I live in a town with one stoplight!!!! Literally one !!!! I live in rural Oklahoma. We have a grocery store but it’s pretty high priced . So I drive 23 miles to the nearest town that’s bigger ! Not huge just bigger ! LOL ! There is a Walmart , Aldi and Reasors !! So that helps a lot . Sams is about 45 minutes to an hour depending on time of day and weather . So I plan out shopping day for sure ! God bless !

    Knowing your personal in meat, produce and dairy sections of your stores can save you money too. I found our food lion had London broil on sale but butcher said we ordered too much so you can get it at sale price + 40% off that price with manager special.

    Well said. I have 5 stores in a 3 mile radius from my work. In addition to those savings, I’m a drugstore couponer who uses rebate apps. I get laundry items, cosmetics,food, and toiletries for virtually nothing.

    I prefer to shop in person. My first stops are the Manager's Special, Oops We Baked Too Much, and Clearance sections. Items are usually marked down by 50%, sometimes by more. I recently found my cat's favorite wet food at 30% of the regular price and bought a month's worth. These prices aren't advertised. I also look low and high for clearance items on shelves.

    😢. We don’t have those with the exception of meats like filet mignon. We have a highly organized food bank/pantry that picks up every day for the pantries, abused persons shelter and the homeless shelter. Every now and then something happens but it’s like finding a needle in a haystack.

    My best tip to save money on groceries is to cut your food waste as much as possible. Eat, freeze or reinvent leftovers! Freeze food before it goes bad and then make sure you use it.

    Really great video Kristen. I’ve been a pick up shopper since 2017. I like the flexibility of putting items in my cart ahead of time and then watching the sales of the other stores to see if it will be a cheaper price that week. I’m like you on, if it’s a better deal and I can get 5 of something I know we use I go ahead and buy. It’s been a good while since I just went in to the store and bought what I needed or wanted for a week. I always shop the price per ounce as well. We did a $200.00 stock earlier this month for mostly household products that included dish soap, dishwasher detergent, shampoo, paper towels, toilet tissue, canning jars, trash bags, bath and body needs and light bulbs that also included some canned food items. We should be good on most everything for 6-12 months. This allows us to keep our grocery cost down and help offset the high cost of our electric bills. We will continue to add to our supplies as opportunities present. It’s nice watching your videos. You are such a natural teacher.

    My mom did also. But if you don’t have a choice I would eat a banana, save the peel and pay for it. If I was absolutely starving, rare, I would also ask for samples of sale products at the deli I planned to buy. Between those two, I was fine.

    Awesome tips for saving money. I am an impulse shopper and one trick I use is to limit my time in the grocery store. For example, if I have an appointment I will give myself an extra 15 minutes before my appointment to run in the store. This way I am focused on exactly what sales items I am getting!

    I have used Amazon subscribe and save for a few years and can't say I've ever found a 25% discount coupon, but do find that not all products will give a 15% discount, many will only give 5%. What am I doing wrong? That said, I buy bulk beans, lentils, grains and many smaller items for the discount, I am willing to wait for the savings.

  • @joyfullythriving

    @joyfullythriving

    A very few select products stay at thr 5% discount BUT they count toward th3 5 items needed for 15% on othrt items. So you are not doing anything wrong! 😁The bonus coupons are random. Right now, at a quick glance I am seeing 10 to 20% bonus coupons on Amazon Basics paper products when you subscribe and save. (Affiliate link here) amzn.to/428jFCE

    There are a lot of ways to approach saving. It takes time when starting out but gets easier as you go along. Sometimes it helps to focus on meals your family likes and try to get those ingredients inexpensively. Chili has been easy for me. 1 cans 28oz Walmart brand diced tomatoes, $1.48 2 cans 15.5 oz Walmart chili beans $0.82x2=$1.64 1/2 hamburger $2 (on sale $1.50-$1.75) Top with sour cream ($1.18) and/or shredded sharp cheddar cheese ($2.22) Feeds 4-5, use sour cream and cheese sparingly, dinner for about $6 😊 My family loved having Chili week. Monday was chili as above, Wednesday was chili mac, Friday was chili on hot dogs on a bun with French fries. This made planning easy. Chili can also be served over macaroni (chili Mac), potatoes or rice to go farther. I’m using chili but there are a lot of meals you can do this with. Next week introduce another recipe or meal to work on. Once you have about 14-21 meals, just rotate them. Now, you have a meal plan.
