    Nicely done! Exactly how I perform tire swaps when rotating or switching between all seasons and winter tires. Living in a snowy climate I've taught myself how to clean and lube the brake hardware. Noticed you use an Icon torque wrench. Recently upgraded to an Icon Split Beam Torque wrench. Those have been hard to find lately!

    I purchased a new mounted set of winter tires on turbine wheels for my 2023 model3 performance. Tesla, mobile service brought them to my house and replace my current Summer tires that come with my M3p. He put a floor, jack w/puck in the hole in front of the rear tire and picked up the whole side of the car. Used a battery, powered impact and pulled both tires off. Then he popped on the new snow tires set, touch the car down and proceeded with his torque wrench. No need for two jacks since the car is rigid

    You are right. The last time I rotated my tires I only used one jack. The stiffness of the frame enables this to be done.

    Wheels should really be diagonally rotated as roundabouts affect the tyre wear on the OS compared to the NS but it's better to rotate than nothing at all :D

    I agree you can do that if the tires are not unidirectional. Some tires are designed to roll in one direction. Either rotation is better than none.

    Martian wheels are beautiful. Why did you choose to go with 20's? Did you consider going with 19's?

    Yes I did consider the 19" versions, but my wife wanted me to go with the larger 20" rims. They are smaller than the performance 21" Uberturbine that came with my MYP. If you want more range, then go with the 19". Love these wheels. I can send you the email for Drew, the CEO of Martian. Great guy.

    @@geteducatedbyTed The wife is always right...lol. 20's are a good compromise between range and comfort. I'm sure the ride is more comfortable than the 21's but you won't get as good of range as the 19's. I feel they look more pleasing than the 19's and give you more of a performance look. Did you go with 8.5 or 9.5 when you selected the 20's?

    @@ryanfallon943 - Went with the 9.5" width. The original 21" fronts were 9.5" and the rear wheels were 10 or 10.5". So I went with 9.5" for all. Figured there would be less stress on the tires with the weight spread across that extra inch also.

    Are You using the torque wrench to protect the after market lug nuts? Can you tighten without torque wrench?

  • @geteducatedbyTed

    @geteducatedbyTed

    4 ай бұрын

    It is best practice to always use a torque wrench when tightening lug nuts and many other nuts for that matter. It is not because of the aftermarket lug nuts. In fact the after market lug nuts are stronger than the stock Tesla ones. Every tire repair shop tightens lug nuts to torque specs and so should we.

    No need to rotate tires on a Tesla. Especially a duel motor Tesla. The weight is distributed evenly front to rear. I had a Model 3 rear motor vehicle. After 5-1/2 years of ownership and two sets of tires. I never rotated them. They wore to the wear bars evenly. I asked a Tesla mechanic and he also said, tire rotation is not necessary. ICE vehicles need tire rotation because of the weight of the engine.

    @@geteducatedbyTed sure, that’s true, “to each his own”. I see your link too, also it’s in the car’s service area on the lcd screen. But I did ask a Tesla service rep that came to my home to do AC maintenance. I asked him about that, and said it wasn’t necessary. I never rotated and found just a slight difference in wear from front to rear on my tires. I figured since I had a rear motor only, slightly more weight in the rear of the vehicle. I won’t bother on my new Model Y AWD I just bought. I’ll just keep up to date on wheel alignment, that’s more important.

    There's no place to put jack stands! Only 1 lifting point per corner. Some buy a contraption stand that goes on top of jack, allowing the jack to be moved to another corner.
