How to Rock it in KDP Select Kindle Unlimited

Episode 206
On today's episode, Lindsay and Jo take a deep dive into Kindle Unlimited. We discuss who it is best suited to KU, how to handle series launches and lengths, what prices and word counts are best, and other general questions about amazon exclusivity.
Jeff is absent from this topic for reasons that should not be a mystery for regular listeners.

Thanks for doing this video. As a new author I found it easier to start in KU (I have two books out and a third one coming out this month) eventually I want to go wide but for now I enjoy learning more about it....I love your show and I’m thankful you all take time out of your busy schedules to do it :)

Love this show. Much better than the usual beginner writers...still discovering their way and making way more videos than writing books. Just subscribed.

I would join the Discord. It would be a nice place for other authors and fans to congregate to talk marketing and SFF

Hi I love your show!!!!!! Quick question, if books 1&2 of a series is only available exclusively on Amazon, can I make book 3 &4 partially on Amazon and partially elsewhere? Or should a series be completely one way?

Broadly speaking, later books being available wide could cause confusion/disappointment for people who only shop wide. Unless your books stand alone well, I would probably avoid releasing the series in a way that a necessary portion isn't available in a given store.

Great show! Appreciate it. But it could have been better if we had a separate live feed with Jeff so we could follow his facial expressions everytime KDP Select were mentioned ... :-P :-D

I was thinking about doing a serialization into KU. It’s UF and was going to at the end put them all together and put it wide. Can I leave the episodes in KU.

You'd have to look it up to be sure, but I'm pretty sure that Kindle Unlimited requires that the stories listed as exclusive to Amazon do not exist in any form in another store. So I suspect if the collection was wide, you'd have to remove the episodes from exclusivity.

Discord would be great. :D It'd be amazing to connect with all the fellow authors out there. I'd definitly join and tell my friends (the ones who write) about it. :)

Freelance taxes are crazy. I get that, for most people, half of their taxes are covered by their employer, it's still ridiculous. A 50% tax rate is like living in a Scandinavian country, but with none of the awesome benefits. Not so bad if you're making $100k+, but less than that you'd have to have a day job.

Why so much small talk? I lost my patience and went to another video which kept it short and simple
