Like he said its damn near impossible to remove the vocals completely, but I got about 95% of it. Its pretty tricky but its really in the channel routing after you've done all his steps.

4 years late but, in case you still need an answer, if you invert either the original or the instrumental track they're gonna cancel themselves out and leave you with the vocals

Go in audacity, import both the original song you edited on and the new instrumental you made. Be sure that both tracks are synchronized. Select the instrumental and go to effects... then invert. Then listen to the song. Most likely it will NOT be a good acapella, but I have a few songs that worked. If you like it, then go to file... export.

Hmmm. You can take the ripped instrumental and invert the polarity with the original song. That in theory should leave you with the mono. Of course, it wouldn't be the best of quality from an acapella, but it's better than nothing.
