I love my Torpedoes! I've used them such that they can slide back to my leader... trying to lift the weight, manage the fish (freaking out at the boat), and the net- I'll just say I don't do that anymore. I tie a fixed loop on my braid and modified one of torpedo's fixed loop swivels to allow for quick one-handed removal. I can send photos of my set up if you're interested. With the device I showcased in this video I think it’s potentially the best single solution for torpeedo’s. Instead of all the DIY hack rigs we’ve all had to make to allow the weight to slide on main line.

Been using the Instant-down riggers for 4 or more years now. One thing I did was put a short 3-4 inch length of wire with a heavy duty swivel between the clip and the weight. I used to use church clips to attach to the mainline, and I donated a few tornedos to the bottom of the Finger Lakes in Upstate NY. You'll love using them. Thanks for the heads up on the planner floats, gonna get me a set to try out.

Yeah north winds today. I know it picked up. Tomorrow almost no winds. So I'll be out.

Can you tell me more about the QR clips? Where did you get them, what was the name/model. How well did they work for you?

Great Video- thanks for doing this. Do you have any advice on how much distance you should have between the torpedo weight and your lure?

it varies depending on my spread but in general 8ft to 25ft is the range. If I think the fish are really skittish, 50ft back but only with a spoon. Flashers are always just 8-10ft back.

@@ChiCityYaker thank you for the reply! How about the type of rod to use with torpedo divers, any general action/speed seem to work better? Do you want something with some spring to it?

Cheaper way is to just use clip on weights with the 50-50 method. Jet divers are really nice tho

That's an option for sure and will get the job done too! I am just personally not a fan of Jet Divers or goin the clip on weights route.

Plus the water is probably pretty cold in Lake Michigan most of the year. I wouldn't want to flip over.

After a few years to try those releases how do you like them
