The "white stuff" is actually very important for cooling the chips. It is called Heat Sink Compound and you must replace it if you clean it all off as your unit will overheat without it. Make sure you always replace the heatsink, or make sure you don't clean it off so there is enough left to provide a good thermal connection between the chips and the case.

That is correct. Although the quality of said compound is questionable at best. We normally replace it with Arctic afte we installed additional heat sink plates to really tighten the fit.

That is absolutely correct. This method initiates the communication mode. I should mention however, that Test Point should only be used on a bricked device. If your head unit is working, you can enable communication mode in SP Flash Tools and use "Readback" function to read you EMMC. Here is the video on how that's done. Great Video, just got a unit similar to this, it worked for about 1-2 month and unfortunately it all of a sudden won't power on. Do you think reviving it will help to pwer on or it needs to be checked for power supply?

If you haven't performed any firmware updates then it's likely a hardware issue. You should be able to claim warranty

Hello I have a vertical screen yt9216bj with arm ac 8227l and mt 6323 lga got it without firmware so it is empty so have no original firmware for it can I save it or is it just to throw it away

hi i have this same motherboard, the blue light turns on however it flickers and flashes brightly for a second. the issue with the car stereo was it would show the android logo for a fraction of a second and then reboot and do the same over and over. is the board fried ?

I have a similar Chinese multimedia, and the touchscreen is unresponsive. Since the USB is working, I attempted a hard reset and calibration using a USB mouse, but it was unsuccessful. I decided to order a replacement digitizer (touchscreen), but the issue persists. I suspect it might be related to the chip, and I wanted to flash it. However, when I connect it via USB to the computer, the Device Manager doesn't respond, whether the device is powered on or off, even though the USB mouse works. I've got one with a vertical screen and another one with a horizontal screen I'm just wondering if you could swap board from one to the other will it automatically adjust to the screen or not?

Hey man, great video! I got a question as you look like a person who might help me. I have a yt9216bj unit which makes an incredibly annoying cracking sound when volume is set to more than 16. It seems to occur only at peak power (like when bass hitting hard or some hard rock music going on). At this point I am asking myself if the unit is overheating or not having enough power. In case of overheating is there a thermal compound i need to replace in order to resolve this? Also, I am not using any amplifiers etc, only the 4 stock speakers i have in my car.

This is a very common issue and unfortunately it's on hardware level. Your head unit is equipped with YD7388 onboard audio amplifier that is worse than bad. Not only it overheats, but it simply can't cope with anything above 15W. The solution is a hardware mod to TDA7850 with a 10,000 mf capacitor and temperature-controlled cooling mod. Our head units are equipped with this by default. Also, if you build a small external 17v 10A power supply and add Viper4Android DSP engine - your head unit will deliver unbelievably good sound, especially if you have an active subwoofer in the car (even a small underseat subwoofer will make a huge difference). @@bobibakar could be anything but make sure to change the surrounding electronic components as per the PA2030 datasheet or your unit will stop functioning - if you are running factory software, try custom firmware and see if the problem persists. Also try MCU update if you know how to backup MCU first

Hi. Thanks for the video tutorial. I have a T700 android unit with the build version as alps-mp-o1.mp5. After changing my speakers which had torn, I noticed that both the buttons on the unit and those on the steering wheel stopped working later in the day. The unit still boots up and apps can be opened and interacted with, but no sound is heard. The radio app doesn't show any station, just shows 0.00, and if you go to settings and open the infotainment section, it closes back by itself (this does not happen to any other settings section). How can this be resolved please?

Thank you, I managed to revive my unit, but now I have another problem next to my mercedes logo, boot mode selection appeared, volume up for selection and volume down for selection, I have three options recovery, fastbooti normal. My unit has no physical buttons and I can't select either one option to select and the selection arrow itself goes non-stop from one to the second and third option. Is there a solution to continue booting my system.

I have issue similiar Head Unit Android from China. The Mother Board its look like at the video. When i plug the USB cable data (i make my own from cutting 2 USB cable than connecting it), the light from the blue light indicator in bottom right corner is dim and the flash tools app doesn't read the motherboard. We clean off the paste for demonstration purposes. You don't need to do that. When we rework these models, we use Arctic Thermal paste.

Do NOT use this method for what you're trying to do. This is only for bricked units. If you wish to restore to Factory defaults, simply do that from inside the Android.

Im not able to enter Android, it keeps booting in a loop, after apps optimization is done, the radio boot again and again, does not enter to system, and i not able to enter recovery mode either, the reset button doesnt do anything, just boot normally!

@@bryan6679 this unit type doesn't come with built-in recovery mode. It has to be installed using TWRP Recovery Console. If you don't have an SP Flash Tool compatible backup, you can try to look for one at XDA Forums.

Hi, I've just received a DOA unit from Soarcomer (blank black screen). The unit is a 9.5" with the newest 2K screen (2000x1200 pixels). I ordered 6/128 but the sticker on the back says 8/256! Whatever, the unit doesn't work :/ My unit SEEMS to boot (or at least it has power on the motherboard) because when I provide 12VDC to the 2 pins BAT/GND of the main 16-pin connector on the rear, the blue LED on the PCB lights up. Also, "CAR_BT" is broadcasted in Bluetooth. However, if I plug just USB like you show on my computer: nothing, the PCB LED does not light up. Any idea?

There are many different Xtrons head units. Impossible to say without information on your hardware

Usually 6 pins and it is driven by GT911 chip. Some radios use different GT chip. Don’t know how to use it with raspberry, but there will be some way to do it.

I was wondering about the same thing. I have a Fiesta Android and the performance is terrible. Would be good to try and hook the screen up to a pi, but I can't find information about whether the android screen connection is DSI compatible or not.

Great Video, just got a unit similar to this but unfortunately it won't power on. The new power cable is able to power the original car radio but the new screen does not turn on. It was supposed to be plug and play, any advice ? I'm hopeless with wiring knowledge

Best to have a professional fit it for you. You can try to boot it on your desktop as shown in the video to see if it's working

HAppy to hear you enjoyed the content. Test Point recovery is meant to be used for completely dead units which yours isn't. You can solve the problem by restoring your backup using SP Flash Tool. We have a full video on that as well. If you don't have backup, speak to your seller - they should have one.

Hello Dimitrij! After I created a backup of my unit as described in your other video I proceeded with the installation of the firmware. However, after downloading the BOOT, ANDROID and VENDOR, now my head unit won't turn on. I tried the test point recovery but I always get the 4032 error. I carefully followed the instructions and was able to create the backup without problems. When I plug in the motherboard via the 4-pin USB cable the blue LED lights up, so it seems to be working. Am I missing something?

That's not an Android Head unit but rather a Linux-based custom entertainment system that supports Android Auto and CarPlay. Reach out to Atoto support. They are the only ones who can help you.

Maybe you could help. My android 11 unit has been running great up until i got in my car to leave work today. The screen is stuck on my car logo and the bottom right says fastboot mode... any ideas how to get passed this ?

It's likely your system files got corrupted when some of the apps got auto-updated. You can try factory reset your head unit. Refer to the instruction manual that came with the unit or contact your seller.

I have a cheap android head unit from ebay. Have had for 2 months or so. Suddenly ot will do nothing. No screen light up, buttons don't light up, nothing. Sometimes you can see a dim luminance in the screen for a few seconds as if it is attempting to come on. But nothing else. Can someone please help me with this issue,???

You can't, unless you have full backup with preloader and know where the Test Points are located on your particular motherboard

@@manuelramirez1294. This is what happened to my Chinese android unit from Alibaba as well. New firmware they recommend, and it crashes and bricks the unit. Don't upgrade the firmware in these units, they are too finicky.

@Daniel Aleksandrov can't really say. If this unit is like the cheap Chinese head units, you'll need much more than just a fan. When we do cooling mods - they include custom heat sinks and circuitry for PWM control (I.e the rotation speed of the fan is controlled by the temperature of the internal amplifier)

Amazing work and tutorial man u guys are friggin awesome over at xda. Any ways to recover a intel airmont sc9853i head unit android 8.1.0. I got it rooted but when I rebooted the stereo it only bootloops now. And the unit doenst turn on fully so it doesn't recognize the flash drive with the update. I have a situation where the android radio was doa from ebay. The seller stepped away from eBay when I brought the issue to his attention, so I am attempting to fix it. So the radio will only power on if I hold the reset button in. It is an Asure unit and the reset button is located on the front top left corner of the screen. Once I release the reset button, the unit will stay on for 5 seconds maximum before powering off. Any ideas?

Hello! Maybe i can get an answer here, i have a problem with my android car player, the display just stopped working, i power on the device, it lights white for a few secconds and then turn black. The backlight its on, touchscreen works and i can play radio and music but it doesnt show anything just black

Wo hast du denn die reset taste gefunden? Denn habe auch das 3TL und es hängt im Bootlogo vielleicht kannst du mir das bitte sagen

Hi there I just got my new android 11 sterio yesterdy and tried doing a update on it I think it was a MCU,the screen froze completele and it would not take any comands so I pressed RST it turned off and does not turn back on. Ive tried pluhhing unplugging, battery check everything basically It wont turn back on. Any idea or advice?

If you were updating the MCU, then you have unfortunately broken your unit beyond most means of repair. You should never attempt an MCU update yourself. It's an expert level update and requires special equipment and knowledge as you first need to backup the original MCU and only after - attempt the update. You need a new motherboard to solve the issue.

Hi! Thanks for the video, i have the exact same model YT9216BJ mcu 3.5 but mine was bricked, when i contact the seller, he gave me an OTA FIRMWARE, which i dont kn0w how to use, or can i convert it to a sp flash tool compatible firmware. is there any way to bring this headunit back to life.. TIA

OTA updates cannot be used with SP Flash tools. In fact, if your unit is bricked, you need either your backup or hire an expert (like us) to do the repair for you. You can reach out to us through our website for more info: extrememod.co.uk/contact-1

where is the ram located??

I put the boot logo as a normal picture. When I went in and out of the market, the tape did not turn on. the logo gets stuck. the logo goes back and forth from time to time, but it won't turn on

Restore you logo.bin file through SP Flash Tool

Brilliant video. So I followed your method and was able to write BOOT1 at 0x0 with touch points method. I do have memory dump (scatter, bootloader, user data) as guided by you in other video. While attempting ROM_USER, it doesn't detect computer. You mentioned that it should detect after BOOT1 write. Also the Begin address is 0x0 for both BOOT1 and ROM_USER with just region selected differently? You only need to use this method if your head unit is dead. If it's working then you're fine.

So my head unit smokes from the rectangular chip thing that had the thermal paste on it in the upper left corner of the motherboard, when I apply power. Can anyone tell me what this thing is, and maybe where I can get another one?

Unortunately not an uncommon problem. These units have no thermal protection. This is by far one of the most common modifications we do for our customers. If you still got warranty, simply claim it.
