I just wanted to show the how I clean and shine my vintage nibs when they come dirty. I hope this video helps anyone looking for more information on this. I also have a video of polishing the whole pen if you would like to see that as well.

dudeeee, you voice is so soft and it didn't have a boring music in the background it's cheap and it works amazingly thank you so much for making this world a better place
I used toothpaste only on my 1920s Parker Duofold tonight. Came out amazing! Thank you, it removed some staining I thought would never come off.

Good thing I found this the toothpaste worked on my nibs. Thanks!
OH MY GOD GREAT JOB!!! THANKS FOR THE TIPS JUST SUBSCRIBED
If the sound is insufficient you can activate the subtitles ! My 2 cents
Small amount of toothpaste on soft ear buds do the job better and safer, an important thing is to make only moves along the nib and never sideways cause you may damage the very tip I.e. alignment of tines. If you want to remove stains you should degrease the nib next put sheat of aluminium in a deep plate put nib on that aluminium then sprinkle generously with salt and cover all of that by the boiling water and left for couple minutes, after that wash nib in cold water and all stains are removeed.

What do you use to degrease it first?

@@THIPTHEP88 (!!!gold nib only!!!) There is no risk except you have to dismantle nib from the section and feed. Next you have to wash the nb in liquid soap solution, liquid soap is preferable due it does not leave any residues after rinsing. After soap wash good practice is to use vinegar to disolve any Limescale. Then after rinse out from vinegar good practice is to use alkohol to degrease any leftover amout of oils etc. After all of that prepare clear thin sheat of plastic that could be fitted into nib slit. Using this sheat put it into the slit and use it to swipe all eventually residues in nib slit, from the hole toward tines. After all of that degrease again and use aluminium shet and salt in boiling water method to remove any leftower oxidation. Now your Nib should be as good as new. If you want you may polish the nib with ear buds and toothpaste then rinse and again swipe the slit with sheet plastic.
Very helpful. Thank you for sharing.
Exceptional.
Great teaching video.
DO NOT USE TOOTHPASTE ON NIBS. Toothpaste will remove far more material than you think, and will wear away imprints and plating on a nib. Just use water, elbow grease, and an ultrasonic cleaner.
Hello, I have some left to right wiggle of the nibs on a few of my vintage sheaffer balances. Any suggestions on how I can correct this?
Wow! Thanks.. I'll try
Love this pen and vedio
Among my Pens during my school years, I have a Red Plastic Sheaffer USA. The nib is marked " HAI IC ". I wonder what HAI IC means ! During the last few years, I used to sign cheques and Documents with this Red Plastic Sheaffer. What HAI IC stands for, please ?

Just a comment. You could speak a little louder when you do these videos. I had my volume turned up all the way and it still sounded like you were talking to yourself.

Just a little warning I tried knocking out the nib and it broke a piece of my pen so be careful
it did not work for my metal pen nibs but the steel works
Looked interesting, but I couldn't understand a word of it!

Talk a bet louder or get closer to the mic.

lol - "destroyed a ton of pens" learning restoration techniques. Yep, I know what you mean.
Are you actually talking? Can’t hear one word you’re saying 😶
Mumbling is not considerate of your listeners, I had to give up understanding anything.
Weird voice
Is this safe to use on 14ct gold nibs? Someone help please???
