How To Restore and Straighten A Synthetic Wig!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

HI GUYS I'm finally making wig tutorials! This first one is all about how I restore and detangle my old nasty wigs with just a brush and steamer!
Watch part 2 where I curl tease and style it:
• How To Curl, Tease, an...
FYI the brown thing I have this on is a canvas wig block and I just pinned it in with twill tape at the hairline! But you could do this on a styrofoam head or whatever if you're inventive enough. Let me know if you have any questions!! Xoxo

Back in my early, early drag days,i would wear synthetic wigs because i worked a real job in fast food and anything other than synthetic was too costly for the budget so i went to my drag mother one night while we were getting ready for that night's shows and i just simply said ,"girl help?" She said come by the house tomorrow and bring all of your syns with you. This is what she did to all of my syn wigs and all i had to pay her was a little pot (which i got to enjoy as well ;) and while listening to Patti LaBelle,Tina Turner,Gladys Knight,Donna Summer, and all of the other queens and divas,we did hair ALL DAY!! Child by the time they were finished i think we were too lmao but those are memories i will always, always have of those fun times. R.I.P Daisy,i miss you and love you.

Not to knock this method. To each his own..😌 Imo and though wearing synthetic wigs. I've found a low wattage air heat brush is the ticket for renewing synthetic hair. It's not as time consuming as this method is. I use a Conair 300 watt heat brush. It's simply a perfect solution to keeping synthetic wigs on point. I paid $13.49 for heat brush on Amazon. Try it you will be so pleased with outcome.

OMGGGG super cool tutorial, the only thing I would recommend is to NOT use a brush on your wigs when de-tangling , always use a wide tooth comb or fingers , regular brushes tend to fray the ends and the only way to fix that is by cutting. this video was so helpful tho !!

Buffy Summers for a lace front, before you do this - detangle as much as possible from ends to roots. Use a sulfate free shampoo to clean the lace cap and let the hair soak in the bubbly water for a few seconds. Squeeze (dont wring - just a closed fist) the water out, then use a conditioner also sulfate free rub it down the hair to coat the ends, let it soak for a few minutes - submerging it in water to clean out the conditioner and squeeze out again. Lay it flat or hang to dry (its lace should dry within a few hours mine take about 3 hours), then it'll take its natural shape back and then you can steam like this in sections to help the ends revive a bit - I say in sections because if it has a distinct layer cut you'll want to keep that most likely but it its just straight or you want it pin straight you don't have to worry about layers.

I do the same process to my wigs, I brush them really good to detangle all the knots but before steaming them I usually wash the with hot water and a fabric soap, cause I find it helps take out every glitter or stain on the hair and it also wash out the smell of smoke that the wig absorbs if you work in a club.

ok i couldnt quite believe it and tried it on my old favourite wig, which was crazy matted on the bottom and, as I thought, ready for the trash. its heat resistant, so i used a spray can with water in it and a hair straightener and i lost my shit. its like new. This is amazing, thank you so much!!!

This was great!! I've been scouring the KZreads looking for information on restoring straight synthetic wigs, and could only find info on human hair or curly synthetic. This just proves, if you straight to the point information on wigs ect ask a Queen!! Thank you so much xx P.s I shared this video and link on my Facebook ❤

Let me just give you an update about how you single handily saved my life and my home and my kids from being taken. I had over 500 wigs over the years most of them was synthetic hair matted hair and all . Well I was about to be kicked out my house I had 2weeks to pay my mortgage off I don't know why but something told me to watch you and I never knew I could do this well I started selling my old wigs enough not only to pay my mortgage but to have a good x mas for my kids ! I would have lost my kids if it wasn't for you I don't know what to say . No home means they would have taken them and they said they would too . You also made me to start making wigs now and now my life is so much better cause of you I have 8 kids and every night we all thank god and keep you in our prayers I would like to make you a wig and send it to you if you let me at a token of my love for what you did you changed us for live and we're no longer broke . When my husband left us he left us Owing a lot he was a wife beater and kid beater too and a drunken man you are like a angel to us and you don't even know it thank you from the Smiths

Oh ... let me add this.. I did take my one more expensive wig, I have one of those circulating curling irons.... I took that to it and did it in sections like you steamed ... (I'm still getting a steamer btw, because I hear they leave the hair looking and feeling so much softer) but this worked very well too. The iron was pretty hot too, the wig is heat safe. Thanks so much for making this video..
