    I just washed the old wood bowl that once belonged to my granny. She passed in 1982 but always kept her flour in it with along with a can which she used as a biscuit cutter and covered it with the metal top from a cooking pot. I can clearly remember her pulling the wood bowl out onto the counter to begin making her biscuits. Such great memories. I hope I can give it a shine as you did to the frankenbowl. It was gorgeous.

    Thanks for poppin by Lois, glad I could help :) sawdust, glue as woodfiller.... smaller cracks more fluid mass (more glue), bigger holes more sawdust (cockie dough).

    Very nice! Was that first coat at 10 minutes a sanding filler or some kind of wax?

  • @MartinWoodStudios

    @MartinWoodStudios

    It was a foodgrade oilwax. It looked as if it did not penetrate the wood as well as I thought it would, so I went for the other one. Should have reversed the order in hindsight.

    It's sawdust from the sanding. It is how you make your own wood filler with the closest resemblance to the item you are working on. Best of luck!

    yeah, you won't get the products I use in your country and it's not important that you do. It all depends on your use of the bowl. Here are some links for oil and wax... remember x2 oil (dry inbetween) and then apply wax (the buff the wax). Hi a friend gifted me with a large bowl that appears to have been carved from one piece of wood, it is very heavy and large, but is water stained and discoloured in few places, and has paint splatters as well. I would like to restore it, do you have any advise where to start? Thank you 😊

    I would be super careful and go for oils I could eat. Coconut oil or something... Beeswax... you could check out this I found: www.amazon.com/Natural-Beeswax-Wood-Conditioner-Polish/dp/B00GGPKRZ6 - I don't know this product but looks good. Probably have to apply it more often than other "non-edible" oil/wax.
