multiple but I always try to calm them down and see what's happening and try to be polite. I'll see some people saying to ignore it but that's definitely not the best option for some of these situations. However ignoring it and walking away is okay in other situations since you may not want to engage.

In my experience respect is mutually earned. Even when you do earn it there are no quarantees with everyone and it is perfectly possible to blindly waste it to very one-sided social interactions. That is why it is good to realize that hostile psychopaths, narcissists and bullies who walk over others *aren’t as special as they like to think they are just by doing what they doing.* Don’t waste your time trying to earn their validation. It is exactly people like them that you draw boundaries for. Whoever disrespects your boundary doesn’t deserve your respect either. You can not change those people so leave them to their own devices. What you can do is to find your own balance which is what someone else either will or won’t recognize. It’s your life after all. Ultimately the choice is your’s and no one else’s.

Someone being rude because they snapped deserve empathy. Someone who repeatedly does so and acts obviously(edit: oblivious not obviously)to it, denying it when spoken about and generally being disrespectful? - You *do not* ignore them. Stand up and give them a piece of your mind *for real.* People don't change till lack of change has cost them enough. A person with a shitty personality needs that to be told and if they keep not caring then they need to learn a lesson. But do always trust yourself on it. Stick to morals too. Ask for the other side of the story. Even when it's hard to sometimes. Just trust yourself on the judgement. It's not most people's fault anyway that they grew up to be rude. But still

I feel like Omori can teach us this too. I’ll try to keep vague to limit spoilers, but I’ll still give a warning. But basically, what you said, but with the The rude person in the story of Omori is part of an old friend group. She consistently bullies another friend, to the shock of the rest of the old group. But her friends stick with her. In part because they gotta stand up to what’s been happening, and in part because friends care about each other. It soon comes to a point where the rude friend tells her story because she finally feels like she has a safe place to vent her emotions. And she comes to feel understood. She’s finally willing to move forward as her story is heard and she comes to understand everyone else’s side of the story too. It’s not an easy process. Honestly, the main reason this story goes across three days is because of the specific situation. She’s greeted by her friends, shown that they care for her, and she feels welcome to open up. But not everyone’s like that. Some people take way longer, and much more support from others, and that’s okay. They should do things at their own pace, even things like becoming a better person.

Sometimes all that you ”did” was to exist at the wrong place at the wrong time. That way you are simply a convenience to someone else who may have gotten used to haphazardly propping themselves up at the expense of other people. Saying goes, ”some people try to be tall by cutting off the heads of others”. Sometimes it is inevitable so take it for what it is, a jackass looking for trouble. Whoever disrespects clearly drawn boundaries doesn’t deserve your respect either. Tell them to mind their own business somehow and then move on with your’s.

Teacher: "Hope you learned something from this experience." Me: Yeah . . . avoid group projects at all costs. Just do the work yourself because you're going to be the one to do it all anyway. ...that was me in EVERY. SINGLE. group thing all through school. Speaking up makes no difference. The outcome is the same, except now you've got classmates that you've called out. aka new enemies.

  • @Panzerfaust-ux8xb

    @Panzerfaust-ux8xb

Well... it depends on how you speak up aswell. You can either make war with them or show them that you have the balls to not become their carpet 'respectfully'. Manipulative people obviously don't like it when they're called out. If they don't understand the difference and keep that attitude, it's they that are gonna suffer in the future. It eventually blows up their relationships. It doesn't matter what you do you will always have 'enemies' anyways. However, keeping integrity is important. If people think you have something more or better, they will get unavoidably jelous and become your adversary, even better marks for example, in a school's case. However, it's not always necessary to do it if the potential cost of speaking up creates too much unnecessairy bullsht and drama that is not worth eating for just a brief ego boost. It's not always so simple to realise what it really means to be assertive. Depends on the situation.

Almost the exact situation happened once to me for a psych college class that I took when I was 16 (I did dual enrollment with a community college while I was a junior and senior in high school). I was assigned a group project for 3 people, including myself. I never got to meet one of my teammates since she stopped coming to class near the beginning of the semester. My other teammate couldn't or wouldn't do research even when I gave him a short list of topics to look up, with reputable websites to use AND instructions the professor gave us on how to cite things. When he turned his "research" over to me so we could edit it together, I checked it with a plagiarism checker and it was ALL copy-pasted from websites that weren't scientifically creditable (*cough* Wikipedia) 😒. None of them were on my list. And he didn't answer any of our research questions. So I did the research for 3 people instead of just my own. This was almost 2 weeks into the project that we were given just under 3 weeks to do, and I had 3 other classes to do other projects and homework for. I updated my professor along the way that I was contacting my teammates regularly but one never responded at all, and the other one rarely did, and even when he did, he wasn't pulling his weight. The professor empathized, but unfortunately I had to finish it because it was our final project and my grade weighed heavily on it. I finished all the research, the report, the slides, and the cue cards myself. On the day of our presentation during the class break, my teammate "went to the bathroom" and didn't come back when it was our turn. I went up by myself, sleep deprived and frustrated almost to tears, and asked if someone would kindly click the slides for me while I presented, because my team wasn't there. (I felt NO guilt whatsoever when I only put my name on the slideshow and not my "teammates' " names.) At the end of class, I told the professor what happened, and she said I would get the credit my teammates would've received had they done their work. I'm proud to say I got a B on the project because I busted my butt and ruined my sleep schedule to complete it alone, especially because I was a few years younger than the classmates I was supposed to share the workload with, plus this was one of the first college classes I ever took. I've never repeated the experience since then and I've had MUCH better teammates for group projects now. I don't usually like to lead big things like these, but I don't mind being the leader when everyone actually pulls their weight and we communicate well. It's just a nice bonus that I'm taking classes I love now because I changed majors to something I find more engaging, and my classmates now are just as passionate about our course material as I am. I no longer have to beg people to do their research properly, I just have to help teammates who are in their fifties or forties (they went back to school later in life) how to do research more efficiently because computers have evolved since they were last in school. But they pick it up pretty well and are very kind and helpful in exchange for my patience, and are quite good at finding information I don't think of when we work together. We've done A+ work!

Once had a group project fall apart... AND the last straw was when we'd arranged a meet up in the library (where conference rooms could be used for private work) and nobody showed up... at all... except me... SO I approached the instructor (weird academic tangent from High School) and we discussed the matter, so I got a self project for my credit... and quietly abandoned the group... Come time for the in class "Group Presentations" I stepped up and unequivocally explained there was no project because I apparently had no group... Thanked the class... and assured everyone in the room that as per my agreement with the Instructor, MY personal project would be ready on time for Friday (two days later)... and apologized for any inconvenience... The rest of the Group was shocked... AND when they started begging for personal projects, they were refused... Zero's for all of them... I'll never forget that Instructor's words. "When I assign a group project, it's for a complete group effort. I will not let groups abandon each other and get credit. This young man, Gnarth came to me and explained that he could probably get the whole thing done, but not on time, since you'd already wasted a week before shutting him out completely... SO he deserved a respectable shot. You do not." He shrugged apathetically, and let them watch his "dreaded red pen" come out to mark zero's next to each of their names, and draw and arrow next to mine... There weren't many teachers or professors quite like that guy. He'd been an engineer, and had handled many very large projects in the industry, so he knew well the frustrations and wouldn't take crap... BUT if you were honest and gave effort, he'd move mountains to give you a "respectable shot"... For my respectable shot, I earned a respectable grade... AND I'm confident my Group got a solid lesson about group projects. ;o)

The meritorical part is done awesomely well, the story format is really cool, not to mention the references (Omori easter eggs in this channel are always a nice touch considering the game's topic, the Among Us plushie might be just a little detail but it surely brings a smile, the game's just so nostalgic, me and my people have awesome memories from it), and the fact that the 4:23 face is honestly an S tier meme template material.

Group assigments are a deeply rooted problem when stuck with the wrong partners. I think that the best solution is to let the professor know in advance, while so notifying that she'll work on the presentation alone despite not getting cooperation from her partners. In the case that was presented in the clip, the former information was revealed only *after* the assigment was due and was *praised* - What if it didn't get much praise? It would seem like an excuse and blaming the others while cover your own back...

I had a manager who made discriminatory and racist comments about me every day that I worked with her. I ignored it for months until I couldn’t stand it to the point where I would just cry. I spoke to upper manager about it and was told they would take care of it. Then she was going around work saying that I was calling her a racist and that she was the victim. I’m unsure what was said to upper management since I was then made to feel like it was my problem. You think you’re doing the right thing by saying something (considering I’m not the one person she had done it too) but instead you get looked at like you’re the problem because everyone else keeps silent about what goes on

I know your pain, the assimilative nature of rudeness truly is it’s most messed up aspect which is made worse when entire social groups or fandoms participate in conforming to it, thus, reward it. It ropes in those who, instead of sharing rudeness, would rather be kind. My lesson to learn was that nice boys always finish last. It can stain your conscience which gaslighting scum prey upon. ”You enjoy hijinks like us or you’re weak.” How about no lol. The problem is that by being in the group at all you often don’t know how to avoid contributing to the dynamic so, to compensate, you either take the peer pressure in relative silence or walk away from those who collectively feed the trend. Harsh, I know. Been there, done that. COUGHbroniesCOUGH But you know what? You can endure or walk away knowing the whole time that none of the shit talk, the drama, popularity contests and flexing coming from them ever has to define your individual vitality level. It doesn’t. When it’s high you don’t owe that to them so don’t let them waste it. Don’t waste blind respect on them either, that’s exactly how they get you. Rigged games lack integrity. Let rude people be rude people by themselves. Rewarding what a-holes do is completely irrelevant to individual life. Nuff said.

And you're being bullied, stand up for yourself nya ! Make a call to the appropriate persons, build a resistance group, wear your armor, but don't let them win their own petty war against you. You're worthy and you deserve kindness and empathetic behaviours nya🌿

You make it look easy to avoid emotional distress when encountering rude people. To be blunt, your cases were fairly mild. I've experienced stuff that will turn you pale. Karens are like society's abuse machines that feed off of your emotional distress. Sometimes, you can't really run. Society is more cruel than nice. I've always had issues with emotional security in life. I ended up abandoning my dreams for Disability. Might as well call it Social Shell Shock, but what I have is an actual mental disorder.

You can grand stand all you like, but at the end of the day you are not obligated to be the "bigger person." Here's how I would respond: Rude Customer: "And what makes you think I brought my phone?" Me: "I just assumed you were a fully functional member of society who brings their phone with them like everybody else, but I guess not." Will: "Thanks to my dearest Amber for working very hard on the presentation. Without her, these slides would be super dull." Me: "What are you talking about? You literally did none of the work. I'm a non-confrontational person, but when someone tries to get into an argument with me, I usually argue back and turn the situation even worse always thought that by speaking back, I would be "fair" and give them the lesson they deserved. After watching the video, I realized that I can bring justice without giving it back with the same intensity. I don't lose my posture, but I don't stay silent. it is very important to know how to behave with disrespectful and rude people without being like them: being simply explanatory and peaceful.

I already commented this on the video, but I thought it was worth copy and pasting as a reply because I think it's completely overlooked and not thought about logically. Honestly, I'd rather just be passive aggressive or rude back. You can grand stand all you like, but at the end of the day you are not obligated to be the "bigger person." Here's how I would respond: Rude Customer: "And what makes you think I brought my phone?" Would you like me to project our entire group chat onto the smart board and read the messages out loud, or would you like to shut up and take the free A?" Nothing about what I am saying here is immoral or wrong, I am technically being rude back, but it is clearly justified given the context, and for the presentational situation, I'm not just humiliating them or putting them on the spot for the sake of it, I am outing them for lying which is a humiliating act in of itself, whereas I am just stating the truth while being funny and making the audience laugh. You don't have to take this approach, I just wanna make it clear that the people who say things like, "being rude back makes you just as bad," are incredibly stupid and have absolutely no understanding of nuance or context whatsoever, and are just grand standing to feel good about themselves instead of actually using their brains.

Me and my best friend have this quote ‘kill people with kindness, and bury them with a smile’. My way of dealing with rude people is to act innocent and sweet. This normally unnerves them but if they still come at me I’ll just press on with niceness (sometimes explain why that isn’t true or something like that). They then can’t be bothered to be rude to me because I just don’t give them a reaction. If you are having trouble with things like that then I hope this helps you. If you happen to have the unluckiness of people that just won’t stop then maybe try to find someone to support you. In my case I have two confident friends that would gladly burn them to a crisp with their words. Adults and teachers are also good!

I just snapped after ignoring long years of toxic realationship with some people. In my world, my life rudeness is a part of humans that can not be denied, it is everywhere, and after I learned how to just ignore and live my life I forgot where the line is. I accepted every little thing, even though I was offended with it, because thought that it is normal and everyone is experiencing the same. Unfortunately, I stood up for myself too late and loose my temper over a small rude joke, did not even think about "counting to ten" or anything else. This video put me back into reality, now I understand I did wrong) Thank you.
