The tools seems like a tool based on hope, for drivers not for techs. It seems like a bandage kind of thing. Regions are definitely good to do often especially if you are not a long distance or out of state driver but not all regions in resets fix problems. But good exclamation and also on following those instructions.

Hi, Heavy duty tech here, certified by 2 major OEMs, I understand the frustration when your trying to get your load delivered and get shut down by an emissions derate. but this thing is not the answer, and might well be a scam. you can buy third party software that will let you see youre codes, run a forced regen and determine from there if you need diagnostics and repairs or maybe even be told hey man put a new nox sensor or presure differential sensor that anyone with a adjutable wrench can fix saving you my bill. BUT clearing codes to drive for what will often be a few more hours is going to cause you more expensive problems latter like having to replace your DPF at a cost of thousands of dollars if you keep clearing them and running the unit. from what was explained in this video its not doing a forced regen, its clearing codes sending you on the road in the hopes that the truck does whats called a passive regen, what the unit is supposed to be doing every time your on the highway at the right engine temp anyway, and it deff didn't do for the last few weeks because if it did, you wouldn't be in a derate, or your derate is caused by a failure of a component witch again, needs to be repaired now, or your going to spend money latter. emissions can be a pain, but it gets stupid expensive because drivers and owners try to ignore the problem hoping it goes away.

Great points here. One of the best points is just pitting off til later. Getting theTruck to the dealership one of my big points. The OTR platform stores all your fault codes after you clear them. Surprisingly Kenworth says once you clear the codes they can’t read them. I found that interesting. In no way is this going to fix your truck but it is going to get you to the dealership. Thank you for taking the time to share your input. Any other questions or points please send me a message and thanks again

This "reset tool" is one of the most expensive ways I've seen for a owner operator to get themselves out of a jam. Don't get me wrong, it is great at the moment when you need it but less expensive and more capable tools are available at this point that do the same thing. And you are indeed correct for pointing out that this is an emergency bailout situation so that you are not stuck and/or need a tow. It is not a replacement for actually fixing the truck which is usually a bad sensor that needs replacement, unless the filters have been damaged through neglect or bad usage patterns. HINT: idling is absolutely terrible for these systems. My advice for owner operators and small fleet managers is to get a tool that allows them to routinely monitor the health of their trucks so that they (1) learn the performance profile and (2) see a problem building that can be dealt with before it puts the truck out of service. In fact if you belong to either of those groups, then consider that part of your job. That is just life with contemporary trucks and their emission systems. Get used to it.

As a tech, I don't begrudge any driver out there using something like this to get themselves out of a jam but PLEASE! do yourself and your tech a favor and write down every code before you zap them. The more info a driver can give me on an issue, the labor cost drops significantly because now I've got a direction to go in and the O/O isn't spending money on diag time that he would otherwise need. I can't speak to the comment below on techs getting a commission. Maybe that's the way it works at a dealership but for the independent shops the tech (the guy hanging upside down in your truck) 9 times out of 10 is on your side and help you if he/she can. Safe travels!
