    Like the video which is helpful to understand how to replace a starter on the polaris. thanks! We are the manufacturer of starter in Taiwan. Produce it but not much idea of detail when installing.

    I noticed you didnt change the pilot bushing back of bendix .to do this pack bushing with grease take a yellow handled nut driver put grease also in the end .stick in bushing and a couple taps with hammer will push bushing out using hydrolic preasure. replace bushing turning a 9/16s deep socket backawards and tap it in. same way you would remove a pilot bearing from a preasure plate on a car or truck.

    Thanks Man, I just priced a starter at $420! The garage is going to charge me another five to $600! I may try to clear out enough room in my garage, and start disassembling my wheeler to get a little sweat equity....

    Starter cost way less than that. Did mine last year think it was $80 to $90 if even that much. Dealers are a rip off to do work and need to be avoided if at all possible. I have done all my own work on bushings, bearings, ball joints etc. May take you a little time but it’s worth it. Plus you know what you have done and can do it right yourself. Half the time stuff is done like crap at a dealership anyway. Just buy yourself some decent tools and you will do fine

    Bottom bolt is the worst part of the whole starter changing install starter roll it towards the front of the bike install lower starter bolt roll backwards into place pry slightly on back clutch cover start bolt by hand some suggest going and buying 3/16"-1/4" shorter bolt for ease of lower bolt replacement .

  • @TitaniummanGarage

    @TitaniummanGarage

    Жыл бұрын

    There is a washer or spacer behind the bendix gear. I would just replace it. It's like 15 bucks on ebay. The spring wears out on them. Sounds like that's what you have going on.

  • @TitaniummanGarage

    @TitaniummanGarage

    Жыл бұрын

    It is easier with the clutch cover off. You dont need to take the flywheel cover off. But you might want to. To inspect the bendix gear that drives the starter to flywheel. The bendix will come out without removing the flywheel.

  • @TitaniummanGarage

    Yes. The easiest way is to pull the clutches and rear cover. you can access the bolts better. Or lay it on its side.

    I have a pair of Scrambler 2001 400 4x4, easy : 1. remove pull start cover to access 2 starts bolts (pray engine up a bit to remove cover's long 10mm bolts) 2. remove 2 10mm bolts off engine, leave starter bracket on. Install is a breeze. ( I modified the far bolt hole to a U hole, so just lose the bolt without remove it, making future starter R/R super easy)
