Quick tip-in some instances, capacitors will still store a whollop of power even after the machine has been unplugged and the PSU switched off. You can manage that by-after the PSU itself is off-depressing the power on button for a count of fifteen or twenty.

Just watched this video to switch out a 500w power supply for a 750w.(Yes, it was pre-built) Everything works perfectly! Just need a bigger tower for better cable management... So switching out a Power supply, the only connections you need to worry about is the: CPU connector(To motherboard) PCIe connectors(To graphics cards, etc.) 24-Pin PSU connector(To Motherboard) All hard drives need a SATA connector to be powered from the PSU. That's it? That's easy. The only annoying/iffy bit is cable management. But other than that, easy peezy! Thanks for the video man. Really helped me lower my anxiety over doing it, haha.

Same situation here. But I think it is best to just do so honestly, I know that it is a bit scary because of potentially screwing up the motherboard or anything else, but you’ll be fine. Just be sure to ground yourself every few seconds.

Can't stress enough on replacing all the psu cables if swapping out a modular psu. Many builders don't realize the wiring can vary between even the same manufacturer 's psu lines. This mistake often leads to frying components in system.
