I changed ny rusty okd band boots out, but couldnt figure out how to get the hinge back on. Then i saw your video, i thought having the band on the hinge without rhe lid looked strange, then i realized i should put the hinge/bands back together then line the lid up and tighten the top band. I didnt even watch the whole video once i realized that, but I will go back and check out the whole thing to see if there was anything else i missed. Thanks!

thanks for the video. I have been living in an apartment for a couple years, so I took my BGE apart and put it in storage. Now that I am in a house with a yard, I put it back together. But when I had questions, all the videos I could find had the new style hinge and band assembly. Thanks to your video, I could still see the old style and it gave me enough info to get it done. Thanks!

Great video! How did you get the hinge to close? Did you use the clamps or did you only use the clamps after you had it closed?

I used the clamps after I closed it to hold it down.

2 inches long and I bought the stainless ones I know they are more expensive. But they don't rust.

i'm a BGE owner as well. Makes me angry they cut corners like that with the lack of SS hardware. Makes me wish i'd of gone with Kamado Joe or Primo. The egg accessories including the hinge system are crap as well.
