I would only add that you should make sure the window is in the track before you button it up. If it isn't, put the window all the way down and loosen the 10 mm bolt at the lower right. You can then finesse the window back into the track.

Dear friend, I THANK YOU FOR THIS HELPFUL VIDEO. I replaced my front driver side window regulator just by watching your video, it was great help. I live in St.John's Newfoundland and the weather is terrible as its gusty winds and snow fall, I took my vehicle to a friend's shed and changed it, it saved me at least $70 for which I thank you. The window regulator that I got locally is made in Taiwan $180 not that good, where as the one from Honda was $500, but can not afford it, but is good.

very good video. One suggestion. My window was stuck in the up position. After reading the comments I cut the cable for the regulator. That did not work and was also quite a feat to do. As an alternative you can still remove the two bolts by reaching in the door panel and fishing in a small box wrench. I used one of those flex end ratcheting box wrenches. I knew they would be good for something sooner or later. I am no mechanic but I have taken off a number of door panels for car speaker installation and fooled with all kinds of wiring harnesses. This job is not complex but takes a bit of finesse.

Thanks 1A Auto!!! Ordered the replacement regulator/motor assembly and the window now works. My issue was the window was stuck in the up position. Cut the cable and the window would still not budge. After unscrewing the regulator and motor, was able to move the window around inside the door to reach the two window screws with a small 10mm wrench, it was difficult, but not impossible to reach up to unscrew even with the window still relatively in the up position. But once those two window screws were out, could remove regulator/motor and lower/raise window and replace.

I did it! The video was great, although it took me a lot longer to finish my repair (mainly because my window was stuck in the up position and I had to cut the cable to move the window down. I had to wait until I could get my hands on something that could cut that strong cable. ) The new regulator works perfectly and even though I probably took two or three times as long as a mechanically inclined person to install it, it was well worth the effort. I saved close to $200 over what the dealer was going to charge for the repair. Thanks!

Good video. Like others, here, I ran into the problem of not being able to get the window down far enough to be able to loosen the bolts that hold it to the old regulator. The video should have covered this problem. Yes, I thought of cutting the cable but could not find a way to get at it. I ended up completely disengaging the old regulator from the door and moving it into a position where I could get my socket wrench (without extension) in through the large hole in the door panel on the left, to be able to undo the two bolts.

Got this done in about 2.5 hours as a relatively handy person with only very little car experience. My window was stuck up and would not budge even with me pulling the window down while someone depressed the window down button. I was able to get the job done by taping the window in the up position and (with significant difficulty) I was able to use a box wrench to remove the bolts from the regulator - it was so tight I even had to remove my wristwatch. I got the left regulator bolt removed by snaking my wrench up through the large cut out in the bottom left side of the door. I then removed the right bolt by working my wrench down from the top windowsill area and working it into place by guiding the head of the wrench with my left hand which was snaked up through the aforementioned cutout in the door. Thanks again for the great video and best of luck to everybody!

Great help! I would never have tried that if I didn't watch your video first. Honda wanted about $900 total in Vancouver Canada although that was a phone estimate. It took me three hours to go slow and check the video constantly. But I am not a mechanical and thought I gave up repairing my own car about ten years ago. I do follow instructions well and these were good.

my new to me 2005 crv window was stuck down after being left open in a rainstorm. My local mechanic wanted $750 for repair using genuine honda parts. He wouldn't even quote me for aftermarket parts. Charged $220 for diagnostics and putting window up with duct tape. Thank you sooooo much for this video. Took us about 2 hours with another $75 in parts and the window works like a charm!

Many thanks for the video.....I referred to it several times as I changed my mechanism. Sorry, could not get the part from you as would have taken to long to get to New Zealand. One thing that might be useful for others. Its really hard to get the cable ties back in place. So I snipped them off. Then there is a slot at the bottom of the clip where I could put a new cable tie through and tighten up to similar tension to the old ones. This may stop a few rattles.Once again...thanks...great video.

I've replaced 4 of these on Accords, but last night, in the cold, and dark was not in the mood to go about it on my crv in the "trial and error mode". My window was stck down so my son and I watched your video while thawing out (we are in Colorado). We then went out and removed the broken regulator on 5 minutes and jammed a 2x4 under the window to hold it up. Came inside and placed an order with tyou for the part. In my case, the cable was frayed and twisted so it wouldn't move much. Thanks

Thanks for posting this helpful video. The driver-side window on my 2001 CRV is stuck in the closed position. Incoming voltage on the plug to the regulator motor tested fine. But when I applied 12 volts from the battery directly to the wire attached to motor, nothing happened. So appears I need a new motor and regulator. But how do I get the glass down to remove the 2 mounting bolts that secures the glass to the regulator. I have the panel off, but can't budge the glass manually.

thank you, I have a 2003 CR-V and my drivers side window got wet when I left is down at lunch and ah yeah, it rained!!! It went back up but it kept fogging up so I rolled it down and down it stayed. It doesn't make a noise!!. All the other windows work and the door lock works! Is this going to be the same problems seen in the video, and I need to get a replacement window regulator???

Hey, video looks good. Any chance you guys have another how-to for a 2001 CRV, front driver side window. I've noticed the door panels are different from the later models.

At the 14:52 Mark, you moved that bar slightly upwards to give room to get the regulator out. I did likewise but the left side popped free. Do you have an idea what that connects to so I can pop it back in? Not the end that connects to the door handle but the other end. Video?

I am currently fixing my 2004 Honda CR-V. This video is perfect tool for learning to do this. I do have one/two questions. Did you grease the regulator before installing? What kind of grease do you recommend?

Very competent. Impressive video. The driver side window on our 2005 Honda CRV will not lower. The other windows are unaffected. I don't know if that indicates a bad connection, bad switch or regulator problem. I plan on opening the door panel tomorrow to find out. If it is the regulator, I'll order it through you. How long will it take to deliver?

It takes very long for my window to roll up and it's so close to dying as you can really hear the motor trying to turn over. I took my panel off, so now I'm ready to put the regulator and motor in. Can you tell me what model I need for a 2000 honda CRV.

Hi. The experts say that if the regulator has gone (my problem is driver's side 2002 CRV), there will be a grinding noise, or will be able to move the window by hand. However, my window just stopped working and, if I try the switch, there is no noise and the window doesn't move. The other windows work from the master panel. In your expert opinion, could this be the regulator, or something easier? It's not the fuse, as I've checked. Great video by the way. Thank you.

He said popping and grinding sounds and I was damn sure it was the window regulator and it still didn't work so, now I know it's the switch... god I hope this works because it's hurricane season and all the rain is not cool when your damn windows won't go up and the driver side window go down by itself... 😆💀🙄😭

Just a comment on the technical side - do you need to add grease to the part as I noticed the Honda regulator I took out has a good deal of grease on it???. Also - when you put in and take out the 2 longer bolts that connect to the window connector - the bolts most likely will not line up with the bolt holes (as it did in your video). It may be necessary to reconnect the window power putton and manually raise/lower the track holding the window so the bolt holes line up with the 2 bolts.

Good tip John that is correct unfortunately it is not always as easy to line the bolts up as it was in this video, sometimes you do need to raise or lower the track to get at the bolts. And as far as adding grease is concerned, you dont have to. The regulators are ready for install however if you wanted to add a little grease in the tracks it isn't going to hurt anything. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I have a question and I kind of want to know what could be the issue before I send it to a mechanic. My passenger side window goes down slowly and goes up slower, as I try to hit the switch to make it go up, my engine seems to want to stall off, I can hear the difference in the engine as if the engine's idle speed is slowing down. I'm guessing it's a short in the switch and I need a new window motor but I don't know I'm not a mechanic, yet. Thanks for your help.
