    The rear valve cover gasket is notorious to leak also , it requires removing the intake to access. But this may be your issue. I have been fooled before and replaced an oil pan gasket only to find it was a leak running down , giving the appearance of an oil pan leak. Thanks for watching.

    Thank you for the great video 👍 Got a question for ya. Will a bad pcv valve cause engine knock after time?

  • @s33therfan

    @s33therfan

    3 жыл бұрын

    I would say it could if it was causing excess moisture to build inside the engine. This can be checked by observing the oil cap and oil. A bad pcv can cause missfires excess pressure in the engine among other things . Thanks for watching.

    Great video just finished putting everything back but have a small transmission fluid leak at the bottom of the plate area did i do something wrong? Only really see the leakc when the car is stopped any ideas?

  • @s33therfan

    Nothing you did would have affected the transmission. Either the pan on it was leaking or seal from within the transmission. If you are referring to the oil pan then its possible it could need the torque checked ( inch lbs ) , also possible there may be some damage to the pan surface but usually the gaskets will seal no problem. If I coud not get it to stop leaking I would rtv the gasket to the pan and reinstall it. Maybe even rtv the gasket to the engine also and it will definitely not leak once cured 24 hrs. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.

    @@s33therfan the oil pan worked out perfect but the little metal cover meets the transmission is where it is leaking a small amount of transmission fuild

    Ok that's a dust shield. If it's leaking there it's because of the torque converter seal that is leaking a small amount. This is pretty common with most cars after they have some miles on them. It's most likely it was already there but just not noticeable. Many times I have fixed leaks just to have others reveal theirself. But with the oil pan fixed atleast thats solved. Great job on replacing this and thanks again for watching.

    I did not have to take off the brace to get that cover off. Just had to wiggle it out the right way. Also, most MOPARs of the era can take a very large Motorcraft FL1A size oil filter which is a cheap and easy way to increase the oil and filtration capacity. My van increased from 4.5qts to 5.2qts. Just be sure to fill it with oil before you install it. Way better than those undersize cheap quicky-lube filters.

    I’m doing our 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan now. That foam rubber “shield/gasket” is dry rotted and broken. Do you actually know what this part number is called? I’d like to order the original part if I knew what it was called. I’m looking online and I can’t find it because I’m probably not using the right terminology. Thanks for any help on this.

    It really is not necessary , however they sell thin weather stripping that may work to fix it. Thanks for watching.

    I either use ultra black for oil or the gray high torque rtv. Never had issues with either. Thanks for watching.
