    Ah, yes, no-one mentions the sticky battery, seemingly impossible to remove. I finally fixed it by threading a wide ribbon down the side of the battery then back up again, tying to a stick and pulling. Works great.

    This helped me a lot, I was quite unsecure about prying it open with too much force then breaking it... also my battery was swollen so it was VERY HARD to take it out - couldnt pull it straight away just by pulling the cables, had to use a medium screwdriver to push it from the other side. Thank you so much.

    Very good video. It must be said that most times the old battery will not simply pull out because it will be swollen. I had to take the passive radiator off the opposite end & use a long flat head screwdriver to push it out, alternating from side to side. It took quite a lot of force but it finally came out the plug end enough to grab it with some pliers.

    The Flip 4 is the best speaker in the JBL Flip line-up till date, without any doubt. I got mine in India for $91 in November 2019 but the price went up to $110 after that and has pretty much remained there. You may ask why and the reason is, the Flip 5 is not better. The Flip 4 has brighter sound and a very tight bass and mids. It also has 2 active drivers and a 3.5 aux output, the latter essential for watching video without lag / latency. The Flip 4 also has a bass boosting feature. Press the Bluetooth and the Volume down button for about 10 seconds and you enter the Low Frequency Mode. Now your Flip 4 is ready to kill. I also love my blue as my friend loves his red and others their different hues. This speaker is a perfect blend of sound, portability, style and ruggedness. It has an IPX7 rating and it lives up to it. The price at $100 is very fair all considered. And if you can by any chance place it in a corner, it blows the lid off far larger speakers! This is a speaker you will fall in love with and never tire of!! 10/10, 5*

    My JBL Flip 4 not only had 5 screws around the cap but also they were plastic soft and I could only unscrew 3 of them and got blocked with 2. Ok I got pissed because I am sure it was meant to be shitty screws so people won't have an easy time replacing the battery in it. But what shocked was that the battery was glued inside after I destroyed the cap to get in it just to see if it will be possible to replace it. JBL made it on purpose like that I am sure. What we see here in these teardowns does not reflect reality. I literally paid for a battery and I couldn't replace it...

  • @mygiguser

    @mygiguser

    I hear a few people are having problems with the battery being glued in with double sided tape. The Flip4 seems not the easiest to replace the battery, but it is doable. You can use a hair dryer to heat up the battery area, that is going to make it easier to get the battery out. As for the screws, if the screw driver doesn't fit a 100% then you are going to have problems since the screws are really soft. Not sure why you destroyed the cap?
