    Thank you so much for your kind words! To be absolutely frank with you though, I can't take the credit for it as I partially benefit from spreading this knowledge. Also, it still has some ways to go as the repair is harder than it looks as mentioned in the video and many do find it to be difficult. I'd have to say curved Samsung phones are the most difficult compared to flat display phones and other makes. With the upcoming iPhone tutorials, I'm going to be a bit more giving in that I'm also going to show how to do the glass only replacement even without the tools & accessories we've developed. Any questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Best regards,

    Just wanted to leave a comment that I ordered this for my s10+ and gave it a try. I'm familiar with all other kinds of phone repairs but this is the one that's made me anxious the most. I busted my digitizer BUT it was my own fault. Like the start of the video mentions, it was not hot enough so I couldn't tell how/far the blade was fitting between the frame. I use the heat sticker but even then it's kinda tough using a blowdryer. I had full blast it directly on top to see it start changing colors, then rush to try and get in. If digitizers were more affordable, I'd love to give this another try!

    Just attempted this with my Pixel 4a 5g and ended up damaging the LCD in the process. The oca blade and wire technique worked great as far as I could tell. I'm not entirely sure what went wrong. The most likely culprit seems to be that the very bottom area of the screen has a slight overhang without any support from the rest of the phone. Unfortunately that's also right where the stiff material that forms the OLED panel is the weakest. There aren't any pixels there and the wiring appears unharmed, but a little bit of the material did chip off. Could also be excess heat or maybe damage from using too much isopropyl alcohol. Regardless, great tools. Thanks for the tutorial. Glad I at least attempted to save the OLED panel before ordering a new one.

Would you by any chance have a photo of the display so we can take a look and see where it could have gone wrong? For Google Pixel phones, it is worth noting that the glass removal should be done with the display off the phone. Please kindly note that this is highlighted in our listing description section. Sadly, even if you manage to get the glass off, the most proper way to put the nw glass on, is by luminating it with a machine (together with the phone of course. ) Two problems with the loca glue : 1- It will come loose eventually, and form bubbles . 2 - When you hold the phone up to the light, you can see that the glued surface has some waves (because the glue will not spill in a straight line. That would be hard to achieve).

  • @ecdiy

    @ecdiy

    8 ай бұрын

    Thank you for your kind words! We continue to improve the kit as well! More on this below but to answer your questions: Yes, the wire tool is included with the kit and the amount of LOCA required for the model is listed on our latest tips & tricks page the address to which we print on a slip included in each kit. The latest update to the kit is a clear camera hole cover film which all you'd need to do is press to seal over the camera hole area prior to gluing. This eliminates the need for back glass removal as well as the front camera removal. Currently, it is only being provided on a request basis at no extra cost and no negative feedback has been received. It is briefly featured in our Pixel how-to video as well as the latest Samsung shorts video, but we will be making a full video for this soon. With this, you wouldn't have to open the phone at all. I have a Quick question about the Samsung S10. You briefly meantion removing the back glass to take the front facing camera out. I didn't see much on that. Would it be the same process as removing the front by using the blade? If I ordered the s10 front glass repair kit, does it include everything required to remove the back glass?

  • @ecdiy

    @ecdiy

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello Steven, Thank you for your comment! The process for the back glass is simpler than the front glass as the adhesive is only along the edges. You can use the sharper corners on the back of the blade to slice through the adhesive layer and remove the back glass. The kit does indeed include everything required to remove the back glass, as well as a new back glass tape adhesive to re-install the back glass. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us/comment further. Best regards,

    I purchased the kit for the galaxy s20 ultra a few hours ago. Informing myself as much as I can to avoid damaging my phone when I eventually attempt to follow your great tutorial. I had a question regarding the front camera removal. I saw that in order to remove the camera, there are several components I have to remove in order to be able to access it. This means that I would have to disassemble it, remove the camera, reassemble, glue front glass, then go through the steps to insert the camera in again? Is the camera removal strictly necessary? Also I saw in another video that there is adhesive I need to cut through in order to physically remove the camera. Does the kit include said adhesive as well? Sorry about the essay I'm making you read!

  • @ecdiy

    @ecdiy

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello, Thank you for taking your time to comment! I apologize for the delay in my response. Yes, for an S20 Ultra, you'd want to remove the front camera prior to gluing. We do include the IP68 back glass tape adhesive with the kit which is the adhesive that needs to be sliced to open the phone. As for the steps involved, you would want to remove the front glass first, then the back glass (You can use the back of the OCA blade for slicing the tape adhesive), remove the front camera, do the gluing process then re-assemble using the new tape adhesive included in the kit. Is it strictly necessary? That depends on whether you want the front camera to be as clear as before. Removal of the front camera is done prior to gluing on these phones because the glue would flow into the hole for the camera. The phone will function fine regardless. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us! I'm happy to help. Best regards,

So does that mean that i will need to take the camera out and glue it, then put the camera back again? Im afraid if the glue will seep into the hole where i took the camera off.. Also, in 4:45, u said put two drops of the glue on the other side of the camera, but as I explained above, after taking the camera out, wouldn't glue would seep into the motherboard? Lastly, the ip 68 tape you have developed, explained in 4:29, do I keep it on and glue the glass on the display, or do I take it off before I put the glass?

  • @ecdiy

    @ecdiy

    3 ай бұрын

    While we finished developing a camera hole film cover for other phones, we do not have it for S10 5G at the moment so yes, in your case you would remove the back to remove the front camera prior to gluing as shown in our video. Due to the surface tension and cohesive force of the glue, sometimes the glue can indeed fill around the camera hole without going in there (you'd want to dispense a small droplet or two around the far side of the opening - like shown in this video and our iPhone 14 Pro ). However, as this doesn't happen every time, so we recommend just removing the back glass and the camera prior to gluing. If any glue gets on the underside of the front camera area, you'd use isopropyl alcohol and Q-tip to clean the underside prior to assembling. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further. Have a great rest of the day.

  • @ecdiy

    @ecdiy

    3 ай бұрын

    Hey, so sorry. For some reason I did not receive a notification when you replied. No, B-7000 is not optically clear, nor is it spec'd for this repair otherwise. OCA adhesive film does make it easier for Samsung phones but OCA does require special equipment such as a laminator which uses heat and vacuum, and a bubble remover which uses heat and positive pressure. When it comes to iPhones and Pixels though, I'd say LOCA is easier and beginner friendly. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Best regards,

  • @ecdiy

    Yes it will. S7 Edge can indeed be done without removing the back glass using this method. We also have have the custom IP 68 seal tape made for S7 edge as well as the older models. We have not experienced damage to the battery due to the heat. When the display is heated, the battery's temperature changes a lot less due to the fact the heat is dissipated rather quickly by the solid aluminum frame not to mention there is a layer of adhesive insulating the battery from physically touching the display panel. @@Semystic My repair failed (Finally attempted). I can do hardware repairs on GPU's but not phones, apparently. :( Good luck to others! Good product to give us a chance to do it ourselves so no fault of ECDiy. I'm not really sure why, but a slow heat up with a heat gun at the top of the Galaxy S20 FE on a microphone boom, waited until 80C, let it set for a few more seconds with a constant waving of the phone slowly and in a stable fashion, getting the blade in there was tough, and the hair width metal tool didn't want to get in there because the opening has to be correct or it will look like a sine wave. After a few more slow attempts at the top to get enough of an opening, the razor and the digitizer decided to meet somehow, green lines down the screen. I wanted to shove my fist through the table. Removed the glass/digitizer/screen. Ordered a new front. Gave it my shot.

    Hello Kalman, Thank you for sharing your experience. I am very sorry to hear that it did not go as smoothly as we had hoped. As our business started with the aim of providing affordable screen replacements, receiving feedback from customers who encounter difficulties is something we take seriously. It motivates us to continue innovating and making repairs easier. Would you be willing to share with us where things went wrong? This information could be helpful in assisting others to avoid similar situations. We may offer to issue you a full refund even though some of the items have been used. However, I would like to note that while the tools may differ, the fundamental concept behind our kit is essentially the same as what you find in other repair videos on KZread. The gel pad, sticker thermometer and a hairdryer/heat gun are substitutes for the heated suction pad machine used by others. We understand that having that equipment can be more efficient. Although refurbishing a screen is a lot more delicate process, it can be compared to assembling furniture with a screwdriver instead of a drill. The only thing that differs is the initial separation. You may see others using a rotary tool to cut the glass around the corners to initiate the glass separation with the wire tool. This not only means an additional equipment is required, but in my opinion it's also not something that can be done successfully without training. With our method, the OCA blade is curled up and leaned back so that the tip is touching the underside of the glass and heat is applied to soften the adhesive holding the glass to the OLED thereby allowing the initial separation to take place as mentioned in the video. If we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us.

    Hi, I understand removing the front facing camera before gluing the new glass on, so that the glue doesn't dribble onto the lens. But isn't glue just gonna dribble into the void left by the removed camera?, and also dry in that position on the glass, causing focus problems when we re assemble? Or do we dab the camera hole with iso on a cotton tip? But then wouldn't that eat the glue and wick into the glue? Also, I don't get the point of the stickers? We put them on the display, then glue the glass over the top, then try and pull them out after the glue is spread? I noticed the new camera spot things in the new vid and I don't get if that is the intention with them too? Thanks

    Typically, yes you would need to clean the underside of the camera hole area with a Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol. However, we have finished developing a clear camera hole cover film which all you'd need to do is press to seal over the camera hole area prior to gluing. This eliminates the need for back glass removal as well as the front camera removal! We have been providing it on a request basis at no extra cost for the past 4 months and no negative feedback has been received! As for the stickers, it ensures dust/debris/water do not seep in to the internals. The internals are sealed from under the display on the sides on all phones via IP68 tape adhesive (Some phones the top is sealed from the underside also) You do not pull them out after the glue is spread. Technically, pre-installed OCA can be stacked with LOCA. Even if the OCA were to make contact with the glass somewhere before the LOCA, LOCA will fill up to the area seamlessly. This additional thickness does not cause touch issues even with a tempered glass screen protector. That's been my finding on my end at least. The OCA blade is indeed re-usable. Using it with the wire tool as shown here, it would be good for many devices (easily over a dozen). Please do kindly note that, pushing it when there is not enough heat can cause the tool to flex and when this happens many times, the tool can experience this thing called metal fatigue and slowly start losing its effectiveness. When used properly, you can easily do 3~4 devices with 1 OCA blade even with the OCA blade only method. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us/comment further. Hello Ro Da Thank you for taking your time to comment. Yes, this method will work on a X3 Pro as well. Although the process requires care for all devices, the concept for the glass removal process is universal: Modern touchscreens have the layers/components assembled using OCA (Optically Clear Adhesive). The glue we use is simply the liquid version of it. Our OCA Blade tool is the same thickness as the wire tool, which you see many professionals on KZread using to do the glass separation. As long as the tool is touching the underside of the front glass as it is being inserted into the display area, and heat is applied to soften the OCA layer, you will be able to remove the front glass. Do I have to disassemble the phone and take out the front camera on samsung s22 Ultra? Or can I just simply remove the glass and glue it by letting it spread by its own weight? And when you said to put two drops of glue on the other side of the camera, you mean to out two drops on the camera lense for devices that don't have a hole for the camera?

  • @ecdiy

    @ecdiy

    Жыл бұрын

    The two drops on the 'other side' referring to above the camera area for S22 Ultra as glue spreading from the center will not make it across the hole (most if not all will eventually get filled via via capillary action, if you leave it long enough but dispensing 2 droplets make it a lot easier). We used the term "other side" as cameras for S10/S10+ are in the corner, the side opposite from where the glue will be spreading from. We'll have a video on this soon but S22 Ultra, the camera removal requires patience with isopropyl alcohol & heat. It can take a few minutes for the isopropyl alcohol to soften the adhesive holding the camera but you can dispense the alcohol there by soaking the ends of a Q-tip and squeezing it out over the camera. We do have a film that we developed which you can place over the area before gluing. It's featured briefly in our pixel video here (kzread.info/dash/bejne/fXqf2NFuXdrgcqw.html&feature=shares&t=261). Let us know if you are interested as we can provide it to you at no cost with our kit. This will eliminate the need for disassembly also but you can see the outline of it when the screen is not on. Hello I have watched and listened, I have samsung s10e screen glass need to be replaced and said in video if camera is in screen I need to remove front camera?

  • @ecdiy

    @ecdiy

    3 ай бұрын

    Yes, and no. Yes because, typically you'd need to remove the back to remove the front camera prior to gluing. However, we have finished developing a clear camera hole cover film which all you'd need to do is press to seal over the camera hole area prior to gluing. This has been briefly shown in the S22 shorts video as well as the Pixel long form video but this eliminates the need for back glass removal as well as the front camera removal. Currently, it is only being provided on a request basis and no negative feedback has been received. It is being included free of charge on request basis. If you happen to be interested, simply send us a message once the order has been placed and we will have it included free of charge. Best regards,

    @ECDiy Thank you, I had noticed that there is an S21 model designation phone, and also a seperate S21 5G designation phone model from Samsung online, but looks like maybe the S21 was cancelled? I was concerned they had different size screens, but they are both 6.2" according to my recent research. So if you have a 6.2" S21 screen repair, then I'm sure that works. 👍😁 Thanks so much!

    For any display issues including touch issues, unfortunately you'd need to replace the display as a whole. Replacing the glass layer will not resolve the issue. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us/comment further. Best regards,

    Yes, you should put the camera back after the gluing. However, we have finished developing a clear cover film for the camera hole for most of the newer Samsung phones so gluing no longer requires the phone to be disassembled. You'd just need to center the film and press it to seal against the screen prior to gluing so the glue cannot get on it. For now, this new accessory is being included only on a request basis. Any questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Have a great rest of the day!

    Will this work on a cracked Samsung s8 plus that has a flickering/glitching display or would I need to replace the entire display? It is flickering and changing colors but responds to all touching

    Unfortunately, in almost all cases, display issues like the ones you describe are not resolved by replacing the glass alone as they are caused by physical damage to the display layer. The display would need to be replaced entirely. There are rare cases where the way the glass is broken puts pressure/pinches the flex cable at the bottom causing the issue. Removing the broken glass would resolve the issue in these cases but it's quite rare. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    We do have glass/kit for Note 10+. There is going to be a new video featuring a new accessory we're almost finished developing that would allow you to do the gluing process without taking the back glass off to remove the front camera prior to gluing. We're happy to include it in the kit as well as give you more information on it. Please feel free to contact us. Best regards,

    Hello Steven, Thank you for your comment. It is definitely something I am considering for the future, but we just might be able to eliminate the need for front camera removal altogether! In the new Pixel video that will be uploaded in a few hours, the new accessory that would allow for this would be revealed. Spoiler alert: It's probably going to be one of those 'oh man that was so obvious' moments. For now though, I'd say take a look at one of the 'teardown' videos on KZread, there are a few for each model and most explain the process pretty well. I'm also happy to send you a direct link if you are able to let me know which phone you are working on specifically. So do you need to remove the front facing camera on the s20 before you start removing the front glass ?

  • @ecdiy

    @ecdiy

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello Jamie, Yes & no. Yes, because on the S20, the camera hole is a physical hole in the display panel (S20FE, and some of the newer flat display Pixel phones, it's a clear piece of plastic in that area, not a physical hole). No because we finished developing the clear circle film that sticks to the display without adhesive. This would be featured in a new video (But it's briefly shown at the end of our Pixel video). This film being installed prior to the gluing would prevent the glue from going on the camera lens. We're happy to include this free of charge with your purchase if you happen to be interested. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us/comment further. Best regards,

    Hello, Unfortunately yes. The good news is that S21 has a plastic back which makes the disassembly a breeze. Once the back is removed, it is a pretty simple process of removing a few screws, and unclipping the front camera as shown here kzread.info/dash/bejne/d6B-m7Vmkb2pd5s.html We do include a new back panel adhesive tape also. Hello there, I am about to place an order and have sent you an email with a few questions. Here is one more :D. I saw lots of others doing repair with big machines. What are the advantages of that method over yours? In your instruction, the LOCA is applied by hands. Is the possibility of uneven glue distribution high and have negative impact on the screen?

  • @ecdiy

    @ecdiy

    Жыл бұрын

    The advantages of the method with the big machines are that you can do it faster/less monitoring. For example, when you use the LOCA, you do want to be present in case you see LOCA spreading to one side more than the other. However, with the OCA film installation with the laminator, positive pressure & negative pressure chamber, it's more or less a set it and forget it. It's also easier to do multiple devices at once using the machines which is why it is preferred by the shops. When you apply glue as shown in our video, which is letting it spread 80~90% on its own under the weight of the glass only, uneven distribution isn't something we have experienced but as noted above, you do want to be there to tilt the phone to encourage the glue to flow to one side over the other. It may be a bit difficult to envision without actually doing this repair and I hope it is clear, but if you need any clarification, please let us know as I'm happy to help. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further/contact us. Have a great rest of the day.
