How to replace rear brake pads and rotor on BMW e60 5 series / DIY

This video is about how to replace rear brake pad and rotor on (2004-2010) BMW 5 series e60
( 525, 528, 530, 535, 545 ).
If your BMW e60 not stopping like it used to, making a squealing noise or vibrate when you stop, you need to replace brake pad and rotor. Even modern safety technology like ABS (anti lock brakes) and traction control are useless if a disc brake pad is worn out or disc brake rotor is badly warped. Your brake system has to be in top shape to keep you safe on the road.

    One of the best BMW How-To’s out there. Fast paced, with crystal clear video and amazing detail while at the same time not wasting viewers’ time with bloated dialog. Great job!

    Please note , the 7mm Hex socket for removing the caliper is actually a torx (splined) socket.

    Wow, that's concise and exceptional guide, even with all torque and tool bit specs. Thank you! However, don't you need to bleed the brake fluid while unwinding the piston?

    Thank you! You can bleed fluid, but this is not necessarily.

    What about to lubricate ( silicone paste) of two caliper's sliding pins?

  • @mikes.garage

    @mikes.garage

    Жыл бұрын

    No, this is different type of brakes. You can remove sliding pins and clean them but no grease.

    Does the wear sensor have to be replaced every time?

  • @mikes.garage

    @mikes.garage

    Жыл бұрын

    If the sensor is worn out, yes, need to be replaced. If it’s not worn out yet, then no. But better to replace the sensor, sometimes wires on sensor can get corrosion and brake light can come out.
