I put a lighted keyboard in mine at this point. See that empty connector in the middle, that's where the extra cable plugs in. Don't buy the red one, you can't see the keys. I am replacing my power button for the second time, the little nipple/actuator broke off again, considering relocating the switch somewhere else. You do make it look easy.

Your explanation eased my stress over my current situation. I no longer feel overwhelmed by all the parts. Thank you!

Rather than going through this, Try below 1. Just remove the keyboard and the strip connecting for power button. 2. Then place a screw driver(conductor) in the slot, it will fire up the laptop. 3. Go to bios and enable "wake on AC" option. No need of power button anymore . Whenever power cord is connected, laptop wakes up :)

@@CadillacComputerCenter Actually, while the video was a fantastic help, I found the likely source of this fault was not the switch having failed, but it seems the plastic on the underside of the press button had worn to a point where it was no longer depressing the switch on the PCB. I manufactured a small piece to fit in there snugly and taped it in, laptop is now powering on and off happily so it can be used till the part arrives. Given I'm in New Zealand I am expecting that to be a few weeks, so it's a great help. Thanks for the video, it was very useful.

My laptop power button needed to be pressed too hard to power on. I reached to the power button by opening it as shown in this video. Now I don't understand how to know what's wrong with it.. The laptop is same model as in this video. Any suggestions please. Thanks

I had a similar problem with my DELL laptop. Didn't feel like opening it. Manage to use the laptop using a docking station like the pw380. Then I did like Prakash > Go to bios and enable "wake on AC" option. No need of power button anymore . Whenever power cord is connected, laptop

What about when the button goes down when the on off switch is on

Just found a 1000 times better solution. When the power button becomes dysfucntional, 1. Remove the battery and power supply 2. Hold the faulty power button for one minute. This drains the residual power. 3. Plug back power supply 4. Press the power button hard once. The laptop will turn on. 5. Quickly enter bios ( press F2 repeatedly for dell) 6. Navigate to power settings and enable 'Wake on AC" DONE ✅

You can turn on your laptop without the power button. Just insert the charger open the screen of the laptop and turn on the power supply. This will directly turn on your laptop

they r not the best switches....pwr buttons use the most wear & tear...thus they got out the most due to force....they need to make theres pwr buttons click based & not hold it dwn for long period of time to pwr on....thus keepin em for going out....
