How to Replace Oil Cooler Lines for 2007-2013 GMC/Chevy Trucks

Hello friends! Today we replaced the oil cooler lines on my 2012 GMC Sierra with the help of a couple could ones. This fix works on all 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 GMC and Chevy trucks and full size SUVs.

I really enjoyed this video. Well done, sir! And yes, it is the same as in the GMT 800 6.0 trucks as well. The only difference I see is your oil pan drain plug is 90 degrees off-set from the GMT 800. Everything else looks the same. For those asking, you really don't need to drain the oil pan, but make sure you top it off when you're done.

Love your attitude with the work! "This is where you're getting paid" is exactly how I look at these projects. Now, I just need to figure out a good way to drop my front axle, since mine is 4WD.

Thanks for watching. I am glad you enjoyed the video. The 4WD does add a couple of steps. Hopefully you were able to see what is going on this video without the added 4WD components in the way. Good luck!!

I love this video. It's perfect. Good easy listening music, learning how to wrench on trucks, drinking beer. Doesn't get any better. I hear some guys like to fill the oil filter before putting it on but that's here nor there. Keep on keeping on with your channel! It's great!

GREAT VIDEO. I HAVE TO DO THIS ON MINES. COULD YOU TELL ME THE NAME OF THE RAMPS YOU USED FOR YOUR TRUCK. I NEED SOME AND I DONT KNOW WHAT ONE WILL HOLD

Thanks for watching. If by ramps you are talking about under the tires, I just use a couple of scrap pieces of 2 X 6. My garage floor and driveway create a little valley. I use the scrap lumber to give me a little more room. No fancy ramps for me. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Thomas, I would just drain the coolant and put some Marvel Mystery Oil in there. No one really knows what’s in it, it’s a mystery. Then I would just forget anything was ever wrong and drive normally. Haha. Just kidding. Thanks for watching.

@@fixitwithbeer2435 Yeah I went to unbolt the line and right away I realized it was going to be a lot more difficult than your experience, but not too bad. The only other steps are take off exhaust manifold heat shield, unbolt passenger side motor mount, loosen strut bolts, drop front differential, and jack the motor up a little. Really enjoyed your video. You’ve earned a subscriber. 🍻

Do I really have to do the oil change at the same time ? I just did mine like 500 miles ago... I have heard that since the filter will have to be taken off I could only loose about a quart. Thanks!

Thanks for watching. On the 2 wheel drive like mine, you really don’t need to remove the oil filter. In the video, I put the new filter on before I swapped the line set. You will lose some oil in the lines, but I would be surprised if it is more than a quart or so. Not sure since I did have the oil out. Good luck. I hope it goes great. Let me know.

I was able to do it on my 4x4 ,it's doable . Just don't tighten the bolts to much they will snap.

It’s way harder with 4x4, the entire front drive train gets in your way. It took me 4 hours today, had to disconnect the front drive shaft and play with the lines a lot. Honestly surprised I didn’t cause the new ones to leak with how much I had to manipulate them to get them around the front drive train and the engine. Don’t attempt this without a second pair of hands and a full day set aside.
