PLASMA CUTTER: www.eastwood.com/eastwood-ver...

This video will be one of many centered around teaching Kenny, an Eastwood customer, the fundamentals and techniques needed to tackle a restoration project. It's always been our mission to affordably get tools in the hands of eager DIYers and fabricators of all skill levels, while sharing all the knowledge we can to help ensure a positive experience!
Kenny's 1969 Chevrolet C-10 Truck is a prime example of the various tasks most people tackle during their restoration: shaving fuel filler holes, replacing inner and outer rocker panels, replacing and patching heater box in the firewall, repairing cab corners, custom metal fab and various rust repairs.
We hope you can take away the knowledge and metal fab basics we teach Kenny and apply those techniques to your project at home!

Thanks for the video. You give me the confidence I need to do it myself. I also like how you guys arent afraid of some rust like most people are. Some people would not think is worth repairing.
Eastwood Company has been a great reference for me over the years. Been working on a C10 recently. Thanks for the help.

i had to make all the parts i used or my Cherokee
At 10:20 the hole Matt is referring to is for the seat belt mount. Great video! I'm doing this project now however, my rust is not nearly as extensive as this.
I love your videos Matt. I've learned a bunch of tips and tricks
the more i watch these videos i accept that it’ll never be as nice as factory no matter who i have do the work.

Maybe not the first time, but with a bit of practice you can certainly get there! And the more important thing is preventing further rust/rot down the road which you can ABSOLUTELY improve over the factory.
You two did a great job removing, and replacing with new metal. I hope you rust proof all of the rusted and new metal.Having all opened up is the time to rust proof. I’am all most finished rust proofing the entire 2005 chevy. 4x4 truck. Now comes removing the drivers side rocker panels. Thanks for this, show and tell video.
I think it is awesome to replace these panels. I am watching so I can do it myself. Every little tip helps. I just don't understand why put on new panels when there is so much more rust that is seconds away from being just as bad. In just a few years the repairs you did will be the only thing not rusted out.
Badass video! I love the presentation of the video you guys make this fun

I’m doing a 64 c10 and I wanna say mine was way worse than that my rust went into the floor pans just wish I had the budget for the tools you guys have how com you don’t have the fancy hand break over there making your parts I know some parts you obviously can’t make but like braces and such and you have help too I tried to get my brother to help me but he is the type to get frustrated and throw my wrenches so that ain’t happening

Ive got a bunch of videos. 64s are a bit different but the process is the same. Dont let it get you down.
Y'all are better men than me. I would have probably scrapped the cab!
Cool project. Lots of rust.
I really like these kind of videos.

@eastwood Like the videos. Do you guys have a preferred "go to" for your replacement panels?
do yall wanna do my rocker panels? 😂 mine aint that bad.. damn good job id say!
Hello , I know You Are Professionals in the field , I finished One Of Those , That Another Body Man Installed The Rocker Panels . And By My Own Experience, I tack And Assemble Everything Before Weld , I use small Sheet metal screws, to hold the panels at 1 inch from each. After I install , the doors and the Front end Complete And Am Sure that Everything Aling. Then I move if is Necesary. If Not I Weld after remove all the Parts , remove the sheet metal screws , fill the holes , grind. That way I don't have the inconvenience that happens Whith that truck previously installed rocker panels. That I have A Hard Time Aligning the Fenders And the Doors.
Exactly where I am at with my 74 Challenger. Ends of my inner and outer rockers rusted to hell. Middle sections look great. Trying to figure where to cut and remove metal and then how the heck do I put back together!?!?
🇧🇷 top eastwood 🖒
Cab bushings are NFG
cool video
I've been making a 'how-to' series on how to restore these cabs.. More to come. Hopefully it helps some folks. I tried to talk it through step by step... Open to affiliate marketing opportunities. Thanks
How much did all this work cost?
Can you rent welders and plasma cutters?
How much would a job like this cost ? Like at normal body shop if i left the cab for like a month
what about the floor panel?
I'm going to attempt to do my rockers and cab corner

Hi can you tell me please place you order your parts, and list of all the parts if you can thank you
Where did you buy the rockers?
What year model is this truck?
Nothing to be afraid of, boys, just do it to it, get Er done....

It's a simple puzzle. With the new replacement panels this is Jr high shop class stuff.

@@kCI251 a simple puzzle? That's BS. The replacement panels require extensive modification to even remotely fit plus you need to have access to a good welder and need to have atleast basic understanding of how to properly weld. This is not an easy job to do.
Can I purchase the spot light u are using in your video and how much.

Why do the rockers go bad overtime water settles on metal???
@eastwoodco
4 жыл бұрын
Water gets in them. Or in our area of Pennsylvania, water and salt from the roads over winter.
I would have replaced the cab corners also.
Wasn't the factory rockers leaded in???

And here I thought Ram's were the leading contender in rust....
If your going that deep why not take out all the rust and the floor pan where it bad?
👍
i just replaced my cab with one that i got for free with zero rust in it so far i got a 1000 dollars in my truck and i have the 327 build motor with all sort of parts plus 400 turbo a msd and i have 454 stroker with 400 turbo and the 22 rock crusher with new fly wheel clutch 12 inch so i'm not sure witch to go leaning to the 454 because i got a tunnel ram for free and carbs looking to trade for nice set of wheels have a 396 BB needs rebuilt but runs and have 454 with 400 tubo out of rv low miles
Anyone knows dirty old metal is hard to weld to.
They make cabs for earlier years but not 67-72 what a shame.
@MAYCOCustomRestorations
2 жыл бұрын
They are producing full cabs 67-72 with all the options now at premier street rods. Starting around 12-13 shipped.
Great stuff but you would likely spend 100% less effort on finding a better cab then trying to fix that one.
Nvm
Sucks all of these trucks are old now.
Seems as if you did all the work and he watched.
The music was really distracting.
It’s nice to have things like a plasma cutter. But if this is aimed at DIY’ers, why not do the job with tools that the common home owner would have and use?

We try to spread the love around between simpler inexpensive tools and some of the upgraded stuff like cut off wheel vs plasma cutter - but we want to show you the process and you can make concessions where you see fit. Also if you've ever used a plasma cutter you will not want to switch back anytime soon. And we try and sell them at various price levels to fit every budget. We currently offer 2 under $500 www.eastwood.com/eastwood-versa-cut-40-amp-plasma-cutter.html
Too easy job guys! You didn t shape from scratch rocker panels with sheet metal!
Media Blast that Cab, You can not accurately assess anything prior to blasting.
Yeah so everyone run out and buy a miller mig welder and a plasma cutter...
I have got to wonder how many rusted car's & pick up's you have ever worked on or seen if you continue to say thing's like WOW and this is really bad .. It's rotted we cut the rotten shit out we order the replacement panels then we use the proper chemicals and coating's so this will hopefully never happen again ...It's really NOT REALLY REALLY BAD ... It's rotted .. No Big deal bro..
BONDO......No way and Cold Welds.....That never happens....lol
Better new used cab $1000 AC fuc it
