You mention it gets tighten to 28 inch pounds of torque which I thought it was too low so I look up my repair manual and it says that it should be tightened to 29 foot pounds of torque which is a big difference

But you never make mistakes right Carlos?……..🙄 use common sense as a mechanic and don’t just trust the internet. End of lesson

May be common sense, but he actually torques it to 28 inch lbs on here so people are gonna listen. If you plan on keeping your fj, you may as well pay for the toyota repair manual. It's expensive but very nice to have for the torque specs

Yes I agree with Carlos I don't think the torque for this pulley is supposed to be 28 inch lbs. The Toyota manual says to torque the No. 2 idler to 29 foot lbs.

I’m just curious, if you’re just replacing the upper passenger side pulley, wouldn’t it be easier just to do it from above? And not have to remove the skid plates below? I was looking mine earlier and seemed like it would be pretty easy to access for up top… but wanted to make sure before I did it!

Hey there, I found easier to lay on my back and do it from underneath on my 07 FJ, came back to this video for the other upper and lower not demo'd. If you have no lift like most of us don't, try your back, legs underneath the vehicle, eye under engine, up on blocks. Worked for me good, took 5 minutes. No need for a tech. Also I have no more front skid plate lol 😆

The skid plates are a pain. Mine has a lift and the diff drop and the stupid skid plates now have to use 1/2" spacers to clear the diff drop, just to make it even more of a pain
