HOW TO - REPLACE HONDA CIVIC TYPE R REAR WHEEL BEARINGS (EP3)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The rear wheel bearings were noisy on the Honda civic type R ep3 k20 boosted Kartel, so we decided to replace them for new ones. was a pretty simple replacement. No special tools required - same process on all ep2 ep3 Hondas
My apprentice also did well today, It was his first time working on a car. Its good to be hands on. In the future it would be good to give more people the opportunity to experience working on cars, its not only the youth that want to learn.

When your trying to loosen something use gravity to help you so instead of pulling up just push down, makes it a lot easier.

Many thanks from Sweden! The EP3 service manual have drawings you only understand when you look at the car, or at your video, so thanks! And about the wheel nuts, they light ones are specially made for alloy rims, which are softer than "regular" steel rims and thus can get damage by a heavy steel nut. That's why the light ones have a cone on one side, so the pressure is spread more evenly on the softer rim.

Wait, at 3:34, were there any screws in the small holes that you didn't show that you unscrewed? According to the service manual that brake disk should have *two* 6x1.0mm screws torqued to 9,8 Nm holding it to that "bearing plate with the five large threaded rods" English is my third language so bear with me, and my lack of proper terms and part names.

@@benghazi4216 your English is great 👍 they usually do have screws but it looks like who ever replaced the discs previously did not fit the screws back in, its not too much of an issue if you do not have them as the wheel holds everything in place. If yours does have the screws I would recommend tapping them with a hammer a few times to loosen the rust so they do not snap. Let me know how you get on. I hope the video has helped

@@YKRECREATION Thanks man! Good tip on tapping the screws before I torque (if they are there, never cared to look) But hopefully the rust is minimal, as it's been a summer car for all it's life. With the snow we get here, it would quickly become ridiculous. If the plow guys don't do their job, then the EP3 will plow the road for them.. The video definitely helped! I had quite the crash with mine, and now 2 years later it's finally rolling again. Even the engine got snapped of it's engine mounts. And everything was fixed with the help of people like you, posting their videos
