I have a 1995 caprice wagon 5.7L and the heat doesn’t get really warm. But the engine temp gauge only goes up to 1/4. Previous owner said they flushed it though.

The correct way to do a complete flush these LT1 engines is to pull both knock sensors. A lot of sediment will remain in the engine and will reintroduce itself into the coolant system if not flushed correctly and will block your heater core.

What would/could be the cause of an LT1 over heating when parking? The car starts overheating fast when I'm slowly manuvering (Few feet forward, few feet back etc) into a parking space Car is fine at all other times Water pump, thermostat, and coolant are all about 1 year old I bled the system Fuses and box LOOKED ok Just put on a new ac delco rad cap Unplugged the WP to test the fans and the drivers side works but NOT the passenger side Neither the AC or the heat hasn't worked for over a year btw

Is it getting all the way to ‘H’ on the gauge? My Roadmaster gets really close to the H before kicking on the electric fan. That’s fairly normal, just a really high factory temp set point for that fan. Always ran below 1/2 with the mechanical fan, but sounded like a UPS truck.

@@beecnote7742 If this is a Caprice we're talking about you should have a flex fan check the clutch sometimes if you spin the clutch by hand after a minute it'll spin freely which is no good the clutch could be bad and It will overheat just because it spins doesn't mean it's working A good way to check This is to spin fan while car is off just keep spinning it and see if it becomes freer and easier to spend you'll know the clutch is no good then
