    This is an excellent video. I repacked a RWD Pathfinder today. Other videos are way too vague on how much to tighten the bearings. Some cars require a preload, some require some slack. This video tells you how to tighten the bearings (preload) to seat them and then back off and retighten. I think I did exactly this (did not use the inch range torque wrench but I did seat the bearing first. Backed off and 'snugged' the bearing retainer. All went back exactly as removed (the two screws that hold the bearing retainer plate.) A1 has EXCELLENT How-To videos. Thank you for sharing your expertise. We need more people to avoid the 'stealerships' !!!! Tractorman92

    Overall great video and I will be using it for my friend's 2000. However, if you do what he is doing at @:50 seconds you stand a strong chance of sending brake fluid all over the engine and if the hood is up as is so common you may actually put brake fluid on the paint and ruin it. Remove the brake fluid cap and cover with a cloth at the least. At best take a small turkey baster and remove an inch of brake fluid and then put a red mechanics cloth over the brake master cylinder.

    Just did the front sway bar endlink bushings on my 02' Pathfinder and it's pretty easy and straightforward. You'll need a 17mm socket to remove the 2 nuts facing forward and a 3/4" open end wrench behind the nut to keep the end link bolt from turning as you loosen them. Hope that helps.

    Will these need to be cleaned and repacked every 30k-50k miles or if done right is this not necessary? Also from what it looks like, if I order the bearings OEM, the race and bearing come as an assembly. Does this mean I will not need to press in the race and bearing separately and instead, as one unit, or will they still be able to come apart and be installed as shown in this video?

  • @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting

    @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting

    4 жыл бұрын

    The bearings and races will be separate. You will still need to press in the races and then pack the bearings but they can be separated. Go to an auto parts store to get the parts because if you go to the dealership you will pay a hefty price for them. You won't want to use the bearings to press in the races as it can destroy both of them, you will need to use a proper tool to install them. I have 216K miles on my 99 Pathfinder, and the bearings just started making noise so when the weather breaks I'm going to pack them. If the races are worn I will just replace them. I have to replace my CV axles as well so I will do it all at once.

  • @on1ytheb3st

    @on1ytheb3st

    @@InTheDogHouse3DPrinting I see, that's pretty much the assumption I was under. I'm currently only at around 175k but with my worn suspension, it's put excess wear on the bearings from turns likely. I can hear my front right bearing oscillating when driving and after jacking it up its got a lot of play. My only question is about the parts. I've always thought the OEM quality is the best especially when talking about a crucial part like a wheel bearing.
