First time doing brakes. We have a 1999 civic with 160k miles. I got the same parts kit on the video from 1A for around $60, rotors and all. I couldn't believe how bad the old pads were worn. I had all the tools to do the job and it was easy after watching this tutorial. Thanks 1A Auto. Well done video. I did one side, my 16 year old son with zero mechanical experience or skill did the other side. The job was done with not one unexpected problem. Road test, perfect! Easier than assembling IKEA furniture.

Great video. Other videos don't show the cleaning with the wire brush, which is very important: brushing off the very fine brake dust is important before putting disc brake grease on. One thing specific to early 90's Honda Civic is the small brake clips. My mechanic replaced my brake pads on my '94 Civic but didn't put new clips on. They were chattering like crazy on any rough and bumpy street and I had to buy a brake hardware kit (O'Reilly had it and Autozone did not). On my 94 there are four clips for each caliper, so if you have a 92'-'95 pay attention to the clips, because each one is different (two pairs but each is a inside or outside clip). Take a picture or keep your old clips to match your new ones because like I just mentioned they are inside/outside and front and back (in other words four clips but each one is specific in placement). Spray disc brake silencer or dab grease on both sides of the clips and spray/grease the slots on the calipers where they snap it to prevent chatter. Grease the backs of the new pads to prevent chatter. Good luck.

Thanks for the caliper bracket torque specs and the lug nuts? Aren't there any torque specs for the long lower caliper bolt, some people tale the brake hose hold down clamp bolts off and hang the caliper up with a piece of wire so no torque specs for those listed here either, I also thought that the lugs were all torqued to 80 ftlbs on these models. does anyone know where I can find a link to the torque specs on the calper hose brackets, the lower caliper bolt.. (the long one that you have to slide in) and is the torque specs for the lug nuts really 100ftlbs?
