When you put in a new drive axle, do you have to put in new differential fluid, or does the differential fluid stay in and you just need to make sure the new axle is lubed?

That's great! But now the next thirteen and a half minutes can wait for another day.

Where are the exhaust pipes and why do you remove the brakes? I had to use a 36mm pipe for the locking bolt. X3 2.5l 2004

I would suggest using a drift when striking the end of the driveshaft.

Spray some wd40 in at the splines and wait an hour. Then get a sledge hammer to practice your best golf swing. Or get the right tool for the job.
