Dude, encouraging optimism. Why shell out $500 or more if it's that simple. The beauty of pvc is the dry fit ability: no need to commit till you know it's right. Thanks for the "no big deal, give it a shot" approach.

First, hat off for trying. However, you'd be better served by finding other videos that show "best practice" approaches, because those practices come from hard-earned lessons from mistakes of the past. Nobody was born knowing that cleanouts shouldn't point down, but someone found that it doesn't work, and put it in the code book. Lots of comments here from people that think DIY is bad and professionals are elite. You don't need to be a professional if you do the job like a professional. However, professionals are taught the wisdom learned from experience of others, so you need to find that wisdom if you're going to do the job.

Maybe without the primer it would leak if under pressure? I'd worry that that your cleanout going straight down would catch a lot of stuff that would otherwise go down the main drain, I would have put it horizontal or use a backwards Y that would let you put a snake down the pipe.

Peoplecommenting about the clean out when virtually everything he did was wrong. Using Pressure fittings for drain waste and vent, using clear cpvc cement for pvc, and the joke about not using primer making the bond stronger. It’s a chemical weld, no primer that weld doesn’t penetrate deep enough.. people like this installer should have no right whatsoever to perform this kind of work on an unknowing homeowners home. It’s almost comparable to plumbing in a 3rd world country. Lifespan of this omega-rig ~ 4-6 months depending on usage.

Just fyi, 3rd world has nothing to od with the quality of the country or the people working/living in those countries. 3rd world is entirely just a category that a country is put into in terms of it's trade agreements with countries such as USA. For instance, Colombia is considered a 3rd world country, and Colombia has a better infrastructure, and more quality workers/tradesmen than say a 1st world country such as New Zealand. The 3rd world thing is entirely a political stigma, and has nothing to do with quality of life in those countries.

Pressure fittings is used for water? So why not use on drainage? If the slope is right, whats the problem? The other fittings just have a slight curve so it drains easier, correct me if I'm wrong, but they are both made out of PVC. Clean out is wrong, but only needs to be flipped up so it doesn't puddle. Sorry I'm just really trying to make sense of why everyone is hating. What Im getting is wrong material used, but other than that it still works not a top notch job, but it works. I'd be curious to know how it is to date*.

I hope everyone watching this video understands you can't use a pipe auger/snake to clear a clogged line with pressure fittings. There's specific type of fittings Designed for sewer wastewater, Also known as DWV ( drain, waste & vent ) I'm more than positive all that stuff he said, was so easy and just slapped together caused more issues and was cut out and reinstalld buy a license professional. Plumbers fallow a cod book for a reason. Its there job to help protect the health of the nation.

I don't know much about plumbing, but I don't think this is the right way to approach this... it feels like that cleanout being the low point is just asking for a clog or leak. Probably could have used a Y in the same spot, rotated 90 degrees so the empty plug is level with or slightly above the main line. Easier to snake too than trying to make that hard turn.

I did not even know they made a primer, probably just extra stuff they sell to make more money. Anyway it looks much better than it did with the old pipe that is for sure.

Don't do this to your home. There is no part of this repair that meets any code. When he sells the house the home inspector will make him replace it all. Used the wrong fittings, no primer (it's important), improper clean out, and no vent. This is why you should hire a trained and licensed plumber.
