Thanks for this video. My door won’t fully close after a handyman replaced the original weatherstripping from 1991. Watching this will help me determine if the weatherstrip is the wrong design or if he installed it incorrectly. It turned out he was not a good handyman. Thank you.

Thanks- some good advice here. Trim the top corners at a 45 degree angle and you'll get a tight fit.

Hmmm, they make peel and stick sealant tape. Sounds like you will have to get creative!

@@OldSoulMillennial I will have to get creative! I was just being a bit cheeky! I added one of those rubber door sweep deals to the bottom of my door, it’s working so so. When it’s no longer -30° outside, I think I’ll cut the old threshold out and put a modern style one in its place! Thanks for the video by the way!

Yep door warped and bowing just slightly over those thaw and freeze cycles and other environmental factors

I have the same problem. Heres a little tip for that. When reinstalling the weatherstrip in the kurf, don't push it in all the way in the section of the door that is warped out. Does that make sense?

@@OldSoulMillennial might also be sagging hinges... check gap at top and bottom of both sides. It should be close overall but dead straight/identical on hinge side. Shiming behind hinge with business cards may help if not replacing hinges.

How do I slide the weatherstripping into a rather tight gap? You just seemed to slide it right but I cannot do that. Help please.

@@OldSoulMillennial I didn't remove it, the painters did, so I dunno. The top part slides in but further down it is tight. And it's an older house, the weatherstripping had never been replaced.

@@AustinGata I’m guessing the painters removed it for paint the frame. Why not call them back. They removed it. They should of install it back

If you were so thankful to the website where you got the exact weatherstripping you needed, couldn't you have expressed your gratitude and done a service to those of us watching by leaving a link to the website. I couldn't find it. Oh, it's not "old doors and windows," it's "ALL about doors and windows." Again, a link would've have been nice.
