What my mechanic shop told me would take them 1/2 hour to do, and cost me $80 ~ took me less than 15 minutes & less than $6 to do myself! Thank you SO much for your tutorial!

The shop might do a more thorough job (check things out etc.) Also their time estimate has to take into account unexpected issues. They'd prefer to over-estimate than under-estimate.

@TM-fx5le - quoting $80 on 1/2 hour labor and a few dollar part is the thought process of someone scaring away business, especially when a novice can do it in 10 or 15 minutes and without a lift or special tools. I understand there has to be meat on the bone but that's breaking the bone and sucking out the marrow. Had he quoted $50, maybe he would have made $50 and found a repeat customer. Mechanics need to accept that the information age has devalued their service under some circumstances when it comes to the easy jobs. Fair quotes can turn easy jobs into bread and butter, especially when they don't necessarily even need to drive the car into the bay, lift etc. Conversely, internet word of mouth can keep the business flowing with honest shops.

The package for these terminals says they are for temporary use only, and they will corrode as much as the ones you cut off. So, unless the old ones are REALLY in bad shape, they will work as well are the new ones, once the corrosion is cleaned off. Still, you did a great job here and with your other videos. Thanks.

I agree. Looking at the video it appears to be a Toyota that he is working on. If the positive cable terminal is broken and needs to be replaced you can get a new terminal without cutting the cable just unscrew the nut. On the 1988-2006 Toyota Corolla's the part number is 90982-05035. It's faster, easier, and not a temporary fix. This style connector is also used on Nissan cables. Happy Motoring. .
