Thank you for sharing, just for your information regarding the comments on thicker pleated filter. The thinner is better not the other way round. Thin means more surface area and longer filter materials than wider pleats resulting in less restricted airflow however the carbon activated is better to absorb gases and neutralised Oder. Just remember the more pleated the filter means longer filter media resulting best . Keep up the good work 👍🏾

Good demonstration of a simple maintenance chore. What would make this a more complete job would be to clean out the cowl under the hood, typical of these German cars where leaves and debris collect and get sucked up by the cabin fan. Over time, there can be enough debris there in the cowl to block exit of accumulated rain or water, then the cabin can get flooded, just from entry through the cabin air filtration. Unfortunately, our owners' manual does not show how to properly remove and clean under the cowl cover. I'm still looking for info on how to safely remove the cowl. Does anybody know?

What is the name of the housing opposite the cover that you removed (the housing in which the filter is inserted)

Fabian Ulber Fabian Ulber There’s a little plastic tab at 5:50 that you had to remove when taking out the glovebox. Did you reinsert it when putting the glovebox back?

Do you know if the cabin filter is in the same location on 2018 VW Atlas?

Steven Postle There’s a very high chance that it might be in the same location. I’ve own several cars and they all seem to be behind the glove box. Try shining flashlight to see if there’s a plastic cover behind it.

It really depends on your driving environment and weather in your area, but I would recommend at least once a year or every 6k-10k miles. Your service manual should have the exact service interval. In this video I changed it after 1 year. I would say the most important is replacing the engine air filter at least twice a year.
