Absolutely asinine that they didnt flip the design so that the battery was under the same panel that the key is under. You shouldn't need to remove 4 pieces to find the battery, and it sure shouldn't have been so complicated that it required me an internet search on how to do it.

This was the HARDEST fob battery I’ve ever had to change! I had use a Phillips flat head cuz the “tool” was useless.

Thanks! Have a rental car while mine is in the shop and of course I got the warning that the battery is low. With some tweezers I got it fixed! 😊

Just bought a new key fob battery for my Miata x5 ‘23 and learned none of the local Auto part shops on Maui have the scan tool to program it 😮😢😖😬

You don’t need any tools to open this fob. You use the tab at then end of the emergency key to push the tab on the backplate in. It fits perfectly and pushes it enough to use your finger to pull the backplate off.

when he says "you see this little tiny" he says to push in - put tool on top and push down and the area on the back side pops out slightly.

Mazda made this way too hard to change

It's not a valet key .. is an emergency key to open the door only. It can't start the car!

This new key fob seriously sucks. Mazda should just bring back the old key fob. Nice and small, easy to store, and doesn't feel nearly as hollow and cheap as the new fob.

So true. I just dropped my key fob and the entire thing totally fell apart. I cannot make it go back together. $33,000 for a nice car and then this flimsy key fob!

Yes! That’s why I’m down to one fob! Same thing happened to me. I dropped it & it fell apart!

Not a bad video, but you didn’t actually show popping out the battery and replacing it As well, if you look at your manual, it tells you to wrap your screwdriver with some thin tape I use scotch tape because it’s very thin, but it still acts like an insulator And you know why? Because when prying out the battery you prevent accidentally shorting out and damaging your key fobs circuitry

Dumb key fob design. Friend of mine at work has this and the cover doesn’t even snap back on to be flush. Has a nice gap on the side
