I did this procedure last night on my non comfort access key fob for my E65. Of course I practiced on a different identical key first. :) Worked perfectly and no key programming required. Just need to be patient and careful while cutting open the key. I accidentally swiped my thumb with my extremely sharp box cutter and feel lucky I still have my thumb intact. It was a bloody mess, but I pressed on, desoldering the old battery and soldered in the new battery just fine. I found that using JB weld JB Kwik two part epoxy worked perfectly for re-sealing the key fob when putting it back together and dries black, just like the key fob color so it looks the business. Love your videos. On my 2005 740Li with Comfort Access, I continuously get a "Remote key battery run down" message when I turn off the car, even with a battery that's a few days old. It's a brand new key from the dealer too. Any ideas?

Lol...my 2007 bmw was pre owned too! And I had a maxi pad in the first aid kit as well lol I thought the previous owner left it so I threw it away also...I'm happy to know that wasn't the case lol...good video thou

thanks for the clear video. My key had 2 little buttons tha came out. I managed to solder 2nd position (clos( button and it works:) Th 1st button ( open) gave a problem while soldering. 1 solderpoint ok, but tring to soleder the other broken solderpoint, the part from the board came off and i cant find the copper;ead to mak a bypass. I noticed you gave the battery part number for the CA, but does anyone know the battery part number for the Non-comfort access FOB? CR2032 would be for the CA, would a DL2032 battery work?

I'd love to, but I don't have a comfort access key fob, those are pretty easy, check out my technique in the video the key fob I have is the non comfort access, unfortunately I can't risk messing it up by cutting into it myself, if the issue ever comes up I will for sure.

I tried this with my 2004 BMW 745Li for the non-comfort access key fob. At first it beeped once and then nothing thereafter. Now my key fob will not even stay in the ignition it slides in but then slowly pushes out. I even brought a replacement key fob case thinking I messed my up but still will not stay in ignition so now I can't start the car with this key fob that was working prior to the battery replacement. Do you have any clue why it won't stay in ignition any more? Thx.

the key is now easy to pry open. You need to remove the key and then force something inside hole to open.

I'm going to attemp to cut my key open and see if it works after I change the battery.. What do I have to loose nothing the dealer wanta 250.00 for new key but before I spend that I'll take my chances

my key was working fine then out of nowhere the car wont recognize the key after a flat tire on the front what could have happened...?

If you take it to a electronics repair shop they could fix it for you, should only cost a couple bucks, as long as you have the case already opened.

so the comfort access key doesnt recharge? a CR2032 is not a rechargeable battery but the LIR2032 is

Mine did it because I had no electricity goin through the car and would let me put in the key but just was a bad connection on the battery, or if you have power then it could be the part that holds the key in, it probably just got worn down and can’t hold the key anymore

changed battery, still not working. is there something more I need to do?

Does the key only charge while your driving not while the car is parked running?

As long as the ignition is set to on, the key will charge.

Can you let the car run to recharge the battery??

to let you know, i have a 03 bmw 745i non comfort access key. i have a main one and a spare. first off this video does not work. i beyond carefully cut open the case with a hot razor. didnt even see the front or have the main board fall off the front of the half with the buttons. i saw the battery, with was spot welded in 4 places on both sides, unexpected. got that lose with a very small flat head. then put in this diy guys battery he names in the more info. and wala nothing happened. this doesnt work and the other battery prevents the fob from shutting. the rechargable battery in the fob is half the width of normal. two if the car recharges the battery in the key when u drive what is it going to do when it tries to recharge a non recharable battery. possibly blow up or ruin ur car. NO NOT TRY THIS DIY IS MORE THEAN MOST OF THE TIME WITH BMW A BAD IDEA. THEY MADE THIS SH!T SO THAT YOU CANT GET AROUND THEM. THATS Y YOU PAY SO MUCH FOR IT. THEY TOOK THE TIME TO PUT NEVER ENDING LOOPS IN THEIR PRODUCTS. YOUR WELCOME.

Ppl who can afford a 7 can do so because they are smart and responsible with their money. Avoiding the cost of $350+ USD for a new key (when all you need is a 12.00 USD battery) is a prime example.

not sure about bmw but Mercedes-Benz models like this will charge just sitting in the slot w car not running. i purchased a new key fob for a s430 and i was told by the dealership to let sit over night and it would store all info so i did and it started up the next day. previously would only lock and unlock if that
