Really great video, I love the running commentary, keeping us informed every step of the way, and clear picture video of it all. I'm gonna do my own now and all because of your great video, thankyou !! Best wishes from Alan, in England.
Recently came across your channel and want to say you do a great job. I recently had to replace all four studs in my cats on my G35. I only have access to Mapp gas, so i cut off what i needed with an angle grinder. I then used a 20 dollar ball joint press from harbor freight to get thr little bit of studs left. It worked great for all of them.
Super informative, you just saved me hundreds of dollars. You are a fine teacher!
Really gud how he's explaining and showing step by step the work.
Hey there. Great pleasure to meet you. I see that you are definitely great at examining and inspecting vehicle parts. You are definitely the best repair guy.😊

Great tutorial! As a DIY I would just cut out the joint and replace it with a connector pipe with two clamps. Car may end up in a junk yard before a need for a new mufler :)

Very helpful video. My '01 grand prix is having exhaust issues and I may try to replace it myself even though I'm a novice mechanic. Doesn't seem too hard and I don't mind getting my hands dirty. Is there a site I can go to that will tell me what muffler I'd need and all that jazz? Thanks Jim!
Jim, Great job in your video. i have a question. In making the front connection, I used a gasket and 2 new bolts but water drips from the connection even after tightening the new nuts down. Did you use any kind of gasket sealer? I did clean off the old gasket but still a water leak. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you
@jimthecarguy
2 жыл бұрын
Good question. No I never use any sealer.There must be a slight leak were the gasket touch the pipe. Try using some very fine emery cloth sand paper and make sure that the metal is spotless. Good luck .
Jim this video was fantastic! Thank you :)

If I have to replace my whole exhaust from the cats back, can't I just cut everything since I don't have a torch or power tools to remove rusted bolts?

This is very cool. I have a 2010 Murano. Any advice on best muffler to purchase for this vehicle?
Great video, Jim. I'm about to replace the exhaust system on my grandson's 2000 Nissan Maxima. I'm using Walker aftermarket components- (Cat Converter, Resonator, Muffler) . This may be a dumb question. What type (grade strength) and size of fastener bolts and nuts are you using in this video to connect the components. Walker does not supply any fastener hardware with their components. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this video tutorial, sir!

Heat is your best friend when it comes to rust. It just shows the crap that they put on the road for de-icing that causes this.
Excellent presentation & a pleasant demeanor - thank you, sir. By the way, would a propane torch be hot enough, and where precisely did you aim the flame ?
@rezagrans1296
3 жыл бұрын
@David M Agreed, excellent presentation pleasant demeanor. As to your qweshin (¿) Without being a mekanik but having done some personal maintenance and read through guides, watched videos, I would infer that a propane torch √would* work but take longer heating time than oxygen-acetylene⚠️

@@rezagrans1296 I ended up grinding off the studs and then trying to drill them out with cobalt bits, but it was loud & slow going and the neighbors were getting annoyed. I gave up & took it to my mechanic who was able to pry apart the flanges, heat the remaining stud (nubs) and twist them out with vice grips. Not easy working on the back in a tight spot for hours either. Win a few, lose a few -cheers!

Hi, great tutorial! Can you please tell me where you get the replacement parts from? Or do you buy straight pipe and bend it yourself?
@jimthecarguy
3 жыл бұрын
You can buy them in any big box auto supply store. You can also get them on line.
I don't even think OE exhaust from the dealer are Stainless like how they come with the car. I wonder where to get stainless exhausts. I live in the rust belt. My Corolla had 280,000 miles in 15 years, original exhaust. My Honda is 9 years old, still original exhaust. All thanks to Stainless Steel.

RF bond strap to maximize RF continuity. Most vehicles have AGC Automatic Gain Control so if you left it off or it rusted & lost it's bond you wouldn't notice it. Nice job Jim and now they can hear the radio better :-)

ABC Video of what you need to know when you bring your own car into a muffler shop. 1. Identify the most common problem 2. How they are going to replace it 3. How not to get ripped off at a muffler shop for a simple problem. i.e. your exhaust system is a very complicated vital system of your car"s engine.

If you use a good quality pipe and muffler and they are not damaged you should have no problem .Thank you for watching and your advice.
If an exhaust is rusted can you use rust converter to loosen the bolts on the stud?
Is it okay to take it off from the front part? Like on my 2010 dodge challenger theres 2 pipes with clamps and is the only thing that has bolts where I can unscrew some is it okay too?
Stupid question but did you drain the fuel first?
