My son removed the old starter from 77 C10 and I went and installed it just by factory wire ends . I had everything right except the small terminal was on wrong stud nearest frame that gets used on older vehicles only. This was only video showing taking wires off so thanks . Awesome video.

Duncan Peterman I know it’s been a while but how did u remove it. The diff is crazy in the way. I took off 2 screws I think at 8mm holding the starter. Then 2 15mm which look to be to the block. But mine won’t come off. And the terminal ones (not the batteries ) I can’t even reach. Even smacked her with a hammer lightly. What am I missing

@@michaelbliss1976 I know this is an old comment, but I'm going to put this here for anyone who has the same problem with replacing a starter on a late 80s model El Camino/ caballero. It is possible to get the starter in without moving the 2 metal bars/ exhaust that are inexplicably placed right in the way of the starter. You have to tilt the starter to the perfect angle to slide it through the gap, then readjust it once it is above the bars, line it up with the holes, and pray you can get at least one bolt to connect while you're holding the 20 lb starter in place with one hand/ tightening with the other. This is not an easy task, but it is possible.
