How to Replace a Rear CV Boot on a Polaris Ranger | Ranger 900 XP | Partzilla.com

Buy replacement rear CV boots for your Polaris Ranger: bit.ly/polaris-ranger-rear-cv-...
We’ll show you how to get your Polaris Ranger rear CV boot replacement done right in this video from Partzilla.com. We’ll start by disconnecting the hub from the upper A-arm, which should give us enough room to lower the hub down on the lower A-arm, using it like a hinge to expose the drive shaft. Then we’ll pull the drive shaft.
Replacing the rear CV boots on a Polaris Ranger involves replacing both an inner and outer boot. The outer is the one just behind the wheel, and the inner is at the other end of the drive shaft. We’ll show you a couple if different ways to get the boots off, and then we’ll install the inner or inboard boot first. Then we’ll tackle the outer boot. IMPORTANT TIP: Get the small clamp for the outer boot slid onto the drive shaft before you install the boot. Otherwise, you’ll have to take the boot back off again to get it in place. When we’ve got the rear CV boots replaced on our Ranger, we’ll reinstall the drive shaft and get the wheel back on.

Great video that was a big help in my repair. I had a tear on the inboard boot of the rear axle on my 2012 Ranger. Found it easier and cheaper to just replace the entire axle with an aftermarket axle. I had to add 1 step and disconnect the shock absorber from the upper control arm to get the axle at a straight enough angle to get the spline into the hub.

This is the second time I have used this vid to replace my axle, same side turf drive side, wears out after about 1500 miles, I have a 4" lift, so I assume it's the angle of the dangle that causes the wear. Tradeoff for height. I beat on the axle with a dead blow but could not get the axle to go it, it was aligned lubed etc, finally I grabbed it with both hand and shoved it in with quick motions and boom it went it? Thanks again for a great vid.

I have a 2017 Ranger EU diesel 1000. There was a change to the rear drive shaft March 17. My one was built June 17. Are the tork settings the same 40/110 and 120 wheel ? M

Any reason you couldn’t slide the inner boot right up the axle? Wouldnt have to take the entire axle off the machine that way.

I bought a new inner boot to replace a cracked one also bought a whole new axel assembly.I installed the new axel so I could keep running while I worked on the new boot. After a short test drive I felt the inner cv housing and it was hot.So I installed the new boot and changed out the axel.It runs hot also. This is the right side, does it always run hot.The people I bought the new axel said maybe that is normal.Anybody got any ideas.

Typically it's a warped rotor. I would inspect your brakes.

I am mid job and just took a 6 inch piece of 2x4 across the grain, placed it against the bearing and gave it a whack with a hammer. No damage and it came right off. I was struggling as well

Can someone please direct me to where I can get the right tool for putting on the bands? Seems to be a lot of opinions - I could go broke trying all of them! No luck finding the PU-48951 Axle Boot Clamp Tool :(

ebay has them. or if you buy your boots from Dennis Kirk, certain replacement boot kits come with a tool for the band.. (not the same tool)
