This video is great! I went on Angi, and was quoted $350 to fix the dryer not heating! Watched your video and after getting the heating element part, was able to replace the old one and install the new one. Only took about 30 minutes! THANKS!!👍

My Elite is 22 years old and this is the first thing I’ve ever had to do to it! (And honestly if my son wasn’t always loading it too full, I think I would’ve gotten several more years!) I’ve always loved my Kenmores and it’s a tragedy what LG has done to them. Enjoy your old one, it will last you ages!

I have an HE4 so there are just slight differences in the heater element housing cover but all of the other basics are the same. I can't thank you enough for this detailed video. The element was broken. I could not believe the gobs of lint all over that part of our dryer and some were already burnt. "Please people even if you don't have a dryer problem unscrew that cover and get in there and vacuum, we could have had a fire." My old Kenmore is going on 22 years old and this is the first time it’s ever had a problem. Never even knew I needed to clean that bottom lint trap for the first 18 years and it wasn’t even very dirty considering it hadn’t ever been cleaned. I’m planning on another 20 years now that this is replaced! Thanks very much for such a good video and explanation, my son did it himself with no problem thanks to this video! You’re a gem!

Thank you for the video. It really helped when I needed to replace the element. One note to anyone else trying it. Pulling the old element out took a bit of force. I wasn't able to do it with bare hands, but clapping a vice grips on and pulling with a little bit of wiggle got it moving.

I have Parkinson. was able to take the part off but just could get my fingers to work getting it back in there. so did get another family member to do that

Thank you very much for this video, you saved me a lot of money. The video is excellent and very clear as if you were created for this. I got my heating element from ebay for 22$ including the shipping, and replaced it myself after I thought I have to spend a 150$ at least like what happened to my previous dryer. You also saved me time calling technicians and becoming a victim to their over pricing. I think all those who didn't like your videos are frustrated technicians, otherise there is absolutely no reason for anyone to dislike your videos with the perfect quality you made it with. Huge thank you for this video! I was able to order the part off of Amazon for $25. Purchased a volt meter for another $25 and was able to replace everything (not including the time it took to clean out all the lint that had accumulated inside over the last 16 years) in less than 10 minutes.

Thanks to your video (and a few like it) we are drying again, instead of just tumbling clothes at room-temperature air. Our Kenmore differs from the one in your video, so I had to extemporize, to solve how it comes apart. Don’t know why anyone would design these things so that you have to disassemble the entire unit to get at the thermistor, but you do. An opportunity I suppose to vacuum the insides. The thermistor itself was only off by two units on my multimeter, but that was enough to prevent the heating coils from coming on. Luckily I was able to find an outlet willing to put parts in a bucket while I stood well back from the door. Thanks for saving me a couple hundred dollars on a service call (during a pandemic) or worse yet, a new dryer.

YES!!! I 'saw' the heating element and it looked fine. However, your video showed how to remove it and that is where i saw the BREAK and the BURN!! I went to buy the part at SEARS and i know i paid extra due to it being SEARS but needed it fixed before i went out of town (for my wife, not trying to sound sexist). Ran to get the part, replaced it, and we are back in business for under $95!!! THANK YOU for posting videos like this. You help the average person save money and learn these repairs are totally doable!! THANK YOU... THANK YOU.. THANK YOU!!!

Had a little different set-up...but easy to navigate. Video made a huge difference. My element was hard to remove...was in for 15 years. I used needle nose on the right side and my hand on the left...some force/wiggle to remove but it all came out great. Many thanks

Hello How To Bob!!! Just had to follow up and let you know that I fixed my own dryer! Your instructions were perfect. I got everything taken apart in minutes. My heat shield was one piece so had to remove two screws. One inside the housing and one at the base.The last hold up was the screw that held the heating element. Didn't have a small ratchet so I had to pull the entire housing out which was not a big deal. Just a lift, slight twist and out. Got the screw off after spraying with WD-40. Pulled out the heating element and it was black from mid point to the rear and cracked in the middle. The coils were a whitish gray. I didn't have my parts yet so I spent the next hour cleaning out the blower fan which was packed full of lint. I doubt if it was turning at all. Then an additional hour getting four inches of lint removed off the sides and base of the dryer. I used a bottle brush and twisted it like I was making cotton candy. Worked really well. Then I just vacuumed the rest where I could reach. The next day, went to the Appliance Store. I took the element, the housing and the thermal sensor above the blower to have them all checked. Had to replace the heating element and one Temp fuse on the housing. Total cost $85.00. Got home and got her done!!! Not bad for a woman in her 60's! Thank you, again, How To Bob! I am forever grateful!

Thank you!! It took me a whole 10 mins to take out the old one. It's definitely bad. Amazon should have one here by Wed (it's Monday night). I also ordered the thermofuse and thermostat to be safe. Gotta love the Amazon suggestion, "You may be interested in..." Cheers to you Funbro.

Nicely done on this video! Only thing I would add is you don't have to remove the heating coil to check if it is bad. Showing the testing of the 4 components with the continuity tester would definitely help people who are diy figuring this out.

Excellent video. Exact same location for Kenmore Elite HE4. No need to take off the blower cover unless you just want to clean out more lint. My wife actually wanted to get rid of the dryer when all it needed was a $20 part.

Great instructions! Easy to follow. Had the parts off in minutes. Yep, the heating element was broken in half (again). The original heating element lasted 15 years. The second one I installed (using your instructions) lasted a year. Just used your instructions AGAIN for the third heating element. Good thing they're cheap! Hope this one lasts a bit longer (the third time is the charm?).

You can always test the element before replacing it.

Thanks for video from husband and wife in our 70's, we had to spray Slide-out silicon lube to get the element out, it was frozen in place. Cleaned up with alcohol before sliding in new element.

Howdies funbro1. 8 years to you but only seconds to me! This is the ONE I was looking for. After perusing several other vids that did not really do the trick in one deft stroke you explained it big time. The hidden screw on the left behind the power connector. Went in there, removed it, and wal-lah the unit slid out easily. Got it half way out as the parts won't get here for a couple of days. I have a 600 model which is completely different than yours on the outside...but the ridiculous front entry heating element is basically the same. The element reads good. This is a hail mary. The thermistor...fuse blew immediately after replacing awhile ago. The last one lasted a few months only. Hopefully something in the coil is getting into the housing. Replacing all of it, fuse, limits, the works. We'll see if she goes after this. If not, ouch! SUPER thanks!!! Ya done me good!!

Thanks! Combined this with a few other videos and am waiting for the part. My element screw and Dryer much older 80 Series has some shallow bolts and this is one. Everything checks good with meter accept the element. Update on Wednesday. Thanks mate!

Just pulled apart my Kenmore 110.60992990 from 2000, looks completely different on the outside, but once you get past the kick plate, everything in your video is *identical*. (Gave me confidence to use a mallet to get my broken heating element out - it was wedged tight, but there really wasn't anything else holding it in, like you showed...)

I have the same dryer, controls seem to work fine, but when I hold start to start the motor nothing will happen.

Ok what if it does 0-off? I'm getting 0 on all 3 elements tested (heating, thermostat, fuse)

Okay. I have a Front load that is the same. We moved 300 miles having unplugged the dryer, loaded on the truck, put it in the house we are temp. renting from the 1980's and now? No heat. It is on a single throw/2 stage breaker, NOT a double throw. Dryer runs, dryer no make a heat. Worked fine on new construction home with current 2010 code, moved to a 1980's home and squat. Any Ideas? Thanks.

When I removed the front panel, there were Two wires with a blue fob where the red fob is on your video, lying on the floor panel. Where do those wires plug in? I can't see where they go and I have disassembled the entire dryer. The heating element was bad but I don't want to plug anything in with a Yellow/red stripe and black wire laying loose. Thanks in advance if you can help.

If your meter is reading 0.00 then your element is still good. OL or no reading at all would be bad.

great vid thanks. I like this design better than the LG or samsungs because those require removing the whole front panel and control panel and top to get to the heater. My only change I'd make to your steps is to check the element continuity BEFORE removing it. It easy to get the meter probes onto the terminals while the element is still mounted. Could save a lot of effort if it reads OK.

If your drum is not rotating it sounds like you may have another issue. You can test the heating element to make sure it is still good. Thanks for watching

My element is reading .10 ohms. Is it still good???

Red Truck Wildfire I purchased this one from the local appliance parts store.

Hi thanks for the video but whenever I removed the covers my interior did not look like this one and the element that i purchased that you used was nowhere to be found any ideas

Sounds like it may be a different model. You could trace the wires to the heating element. There should be some large wires going to the heater. Hope this helps
