This video is very well done. My house was built in 1998, and the shower valve was all bunged up with calcium. Had to use a hack saw blade to cut off the bonnet, but that was easy. Bought Delta RP32104 cartridge and Delta RP 22734 Bonnet Nut from Amazon. Amazon delivered in one day and I don't have Prime. Apply lots of silicone grease as he shows you. I used Slyglyde brake lubricant that I had on hand. Shower is back working perfectly! Cheers from Calgary AB Canada.

Great video👍🏻! I work in retail plumbing, trying to tell customers who have no idea what they are doing, this entire process is mind numbing!! All they can say is “is this going to work”. I’m like you are going to have to try it. So many cart choices and trim/handle choices. Thanks for posting

Your tips to put grease on your finger for inserting the small rubber part to the holes and to grease all the moving parts are great. The next plumbers and home owner will be thankful to you. 🎉❤

Best video. I was working on mine today. Hardest part is to get the cartridge to stay in and not turn as you screw in that brass collar (locknut), no matter how hard you push it's not going to go all the way in until you tighten it. Hold it if necessary and be sure that little tab goes into the slot. Good tip on the plumber's grease.

Excellent video. You did the repair faster with one hand than it took me using 2. --- Thanks for the great upload. ---

I so wish i would of seen your video before listening to 2 other guys on youtube as they said put the "hot side" facing up and not to the left as you said and of course the instructions i read when i finally went out to buy one for i thought mine was gone. This video saved me $45 as it is going back to lowe's, Still I cannot retreive the time that those 2 caused me to waste.

Very cool. On the newest version 1700 model it has the all in one plastic piece. Does it just snap out and then snap the new one in followed up by the cartridge body?

So does the 17 series work the same as the 1700. Doing an update. From 1700 to 17. It comes with a 17 cartridge. Hoping I don’t have to buy the 1700 also. Thanks!

You forgot to install (or you did not show) the connected “oo”ring before installing the cartridge.

RP32104 has one square notch and the twin-washer is side by side with no gap. RP46463 has 2 triangle notches and twin-washer has 1mm gap.

I assume if you have a reverse (hot water line), you would move it the opposite of what is in the videos....???

Your plumbers grease states it is not for use on plastic or o-rings. Will this grease cause prongs to wear out faster?

I always use A tiny Tim hack saw and hand cut threw the ring just before the threads smack it with a flat head and it’ll pop free for you to spin it off and buy a new nut if you have a older 1700 it will have 3 little tubes on the back do not reef on that valve or you will snap those tubes and you’ll be calling me out to fix it hahah If it’s newer you don’t have to worry If it’s strapped really good and you have sturdy piping grab it with 2 wrenches and feed her the onions but I always just cut it it takes like 10 min if you do it rite
