How to Repair Your Stereo Speakers
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
(I did this video some time ago, but I recently fixed my other speaker, and it prompted me to post this video again...)
Over time, the foam rings inside your speakers break down and cause anomalies in your stereo's sound. Buzzing, crackling, etc.
You don't have to junk 'em and buy new! Check out this easy do-it-yourself stereo project, and maybe save HUNDREDS of dollars.
Hey, if it means throwing them out, isn't it worth a try?

Thanks! I've been using duct tape for several years to stop the vibrations, and it worked just fine, UNTIL I cranked up the volume and then I'd have to readjust the tape. I never knew that the rubber replacements were available. I'll definitely get the kit.
VERY interesting, Brett. I never heard of this outfit, but well worth checking out. I've seen this failure more than once in my life; rewoofed a pair of Bose 301s in the late 80s, had to redo my classic 1974 Large Advents about 10 years ago (still the mains on my main sound system, and two of the best speakers I've ever heard). And just now, I have a pair of Radio Shack Optimus 77s, great little minis, with the same problem. I was about to buy new woofers. I WILL check these people out.
Very good and useful video. I have this very same problem with my speakers. Maybe I'll try this solution.
Thank you so much for this video, you really helped me out here!
Thanks! Great info!
@TrueBlueAustralian Actually, that's quite true... A lesson I learned after I f**ked up the first speaker and it started buzzing and I had to order another kit to do it over... (Ed. note: He's right. Center the voice coil with some shims before you re-glue the foam.)
Cool! It never would have occured to me to even try something like this.
Great information
Wow this guy has an awesome voice

he sounds like Alan Alda from M.A.S.H!
This is so weird, I literally put some speakers in the garage cause I thought they were toast. I went to the manufacturers website, but was unable to find replacement woofers. Thanks for the info!
For a small driver, with a spider intact, I wouldn't worry about lining up the voice coil, as the spider is most likely keeping it in the gap. Just press down and check if it is scraping. If not, glue it up
thanks, man!
hello is there anyway to hear sounds from my computer monitor stereo speakers cause i got some that kind of monitor but i cant hear a thing
The kit will come with three or 4 plastic shims that you slide between the voice coil in the center (under that little "bubble" in the center) and the cylinder it sits in... Then when you glue the new foam in place, the coil won't rub against the cylinder and make that buzzing sound... Good luck!
Thank for the video.
that page does not come up when I do a google search. Can you tell me what kind of foamis used?
you didn't center the voicecoil. if that voicecoil is not centered, you will damage the speaker. besides that, cool video. you have a voice made for radio
Good job
@vincetheswede He used "Tacky Glue" you can purchase it at any hardware store.
@vincetheswede Looks like regular white glue, but I'm not 100% sure if it's the same stuff... If you order the kit from the company I talk about in the video, they send the glue as part of the repair kit...
good video
Need to repair a pair of original speakers out a 1989 mini 30, these are housed in a small box type unit 5"×5"×4"
Oh, and is there a better explanation on "centering the coil"? Where or how would I use shims to center it? :-(

Patrick if it's only your foam, you can't get to your voice coil... So just make sure when you press down on the center of your cone, you listen for scraping sounds. Your voice coil fits inside a circular "gap" inside the magnet structure, they were referring to using shims to do a complete recone, including the spider, or suspension. If your spider is fine, it will most likely be keeping the speaker centered so I wouldn't worry too much about it. If your repairing a subwoofer that is large and has a heavy cone and all, well, that would be something to worry about.
In my pioneer speakers, I can here currr currr sound if I keep more volume, and it works fine with low volume. What's d issue any suggestions please....?

Or just go on creigslist and get another $25 pair lol! I blow a lot of speakers.
How sad. I can't hear him speaking on how to fix speakers because my speakers aren't speaking.
NOT GOOD. You have to calibrate the coil to prevent an offset !
